NAHL Showcase
Just wanted to remind everyone about the North American Junior Hockey League showcase to be held in a couple weeks at the Blaine Super Rink. This is the third year it has been held. It's great hockey and loaded with Minnesota High School hockey players. Not sure of the prices but there are eleven games held daily as all teams partake, including the USA National Development Program. It's great for any player who wishes to play Junior hockey at any level to get out and see what it takes to play. <p></p><i></i>

Hear are the admission rates for the NAHL Showcase according to an article in the "Let's Play Hockey" publication.<br><br>Tickets for the Showcase will be priced the same as they were last season. A day pass will be $15. A four-day pass will be $50. A student four-day pass will be $15 and a student day pass will be $6. The Scout’s pass will be $65. Tickets will be available at the Schwan’s Super Rink.<br><br> <p></p><i></i>

Four of the Elite 2 teams will also be in an 8-team NAHL sponsored midget tournament in Blaine that weekend. I would guess that the junior pass would get you into those games as well, but that is just my guess.<br><br>The LA Jr Kings and Dallas Stars are two of the four Midget AAA teams involved, I'm not sure who the other two are. <br><br>This from the Elite 2 website "NOTE: Sections 1A/1AA, 4A/4AA, 5A/5AA, West Metro will be participating in an 8 team tournament with 4 Jr. or AAA Midget teams. The tournament will be Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on MEA weekend at the Schwan's Super Rink"<br><br> <p></p><i></i>

I think Blizzard team from Alexandria will be one of the four AAA/midget teams who will be there that weekend also. <p></p><i></i>

No, i dont think that is correct...im pretty sure that they will be participating in the actual NAHL Shocase that weekend with other NAHL teams...this would also make a lot of sense considering the Blizzard are in the NAHL. <p></p><i></i>

MItch our team was ready to play we won on Wednesday then we outplayed Los Angeles but lost in a shoot out. Los Angeles went on to win the tourney. <br><br>We struggled to score all weekend. Nate Dunfee and Cory Krogen had an excellent strong four games. But overall our kids are not used to playing 4 games in 4 days and especially playing two games in a day. <br><br>We played OK against Dallas in our 2nd game but they got some real give aways.. We couldn't get a bounce and our kids were tired from running around all day at the rink and being asked to play on such short notice. I also said we had more speed and had to use the size of the rink to our advantage and to stay out of the penalty box. We didn't do any of those well enough to win.<br><br>On our team if we are not scoring 5 to 7 goals we are in trouble.<br><br>Metro West played a good game but they are down to a core group of guys and we are still working with 25 youngsters. I had a young D core on Saturday as two of my senior D had injuries and one was taking hte ACT test. We played OK but the energy level for our team was unusually low. This is from playing 4 games in 4 days. We don't ask our kids to do this very often and when they go to junior camps that is what they have to do to make the teams. I think it is great and hope we continue to play these games.<br><br>Another clear advantage the AAA midget teams have is that they practice regularly and probably on a daily basis.<br><br>Their AAA midget Power Plays were superior to ours but as usual you usually beat yourself if you don't play with discipline and passion and finish your opportuniities off. Their players were very good but not as good skaters. They play a much better team game.<br><br>They support each other much better when they don't have the puck. <br><br>We should have won the two midget games we played in my opinion. One game we didn't get a break and the other we made a lot of mistakes. <p>Hockey Nut in So.
