Who's good in the Lake Conference

Post by Synergy10 »

Just wondering everyone's opinion on teams in the lake, who looks good and who doesn't. Any surprising teams that may be contenders?

I think that the three top teams in this conference will be Burnsville, Jefferson and surprisingly Chaska. Burnsville and Chaska both were in the summer championship for their leagues.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... nergy10 at: 10/6/05 10:57 am

Lake Conference

I dont know about how strong the Chaska team is supposed to be but summer league games dont mean a whole lot, so if your banking on chaska being good from that then dont get your hopes up. Jefferson and Apple Valley should fair pretty well with some incoming transfers now, following up with Burnsville and probably Eagan close too, both bringing back some returners.

Did E.P. leave the conference and not tell anyone? How any conversation about this not have E.P. near the top are obviously unaware of their perennial depth. Eastview also has some very skilled forwards and the best coach in the conference hands down. Speaking of Eastview, how is coach Gibbons going to coach a U.S. team over the winter and coach the lightning?

I realize EP has not been mentioned. EP was not that strong last year, and i dont really see them doing that much this year, losing Dodds and Nate Hanson. Eastview will be average probably middle of the pack, having lost some key seniors.

What is Eagen returning that they had last year? Didn't they have a fairly difficult time winning some games last season?

I dont know much about them, they went 9-9-1 in the conference last season. I have just heard that they have a number of players returning, including defenseman Derek Grogan and should fair pretty well, but we'll see. Apple Valley also has Beggs now with Medvec and Fischer so expect them to be up there.

av

Post by minnhock4life67 »

you gotta put av at the top, two d1 defensmen and most likely a d1 goalie, beggs is leading the elite league in gaa and save percentage last time i checked

EP!?

Post by Synergy10 »

I agree with Minnhock about AV being at the top. There are going to be amazing hands down. As for EP, they didn't produce last year, and after losing everyone that they did, and not bringing up too many sophomores, they have nothing. I believe that this will be EP's worst season.

s10. av will be a contender this year. no doubt. but don't hang your hat on a couple of d1 seniors. they need a compliment of some speedy wingers to put the biscuit in the net. we'll see. you may eat your $175.00 stick on the comment about ep having a miserable season this year. like last year their coach will lean towards carrying a large number of seniors...seniors who put together an excellent bantam a season three years ago. and these players, by and large, have skated together for a number of years. if i'm correct their is not one superstar on this team. i'll take hustle and balance over one hot-dog.

Lakeville

Post by Sticklicker »

Steege and Goss both coached the senior class of Lakeville in the past and both coaches said it was the worst group of players to ever come out of Lakeville. History does repeat itself. Lakeville North (with all the seniors) will be very down this year. Lakeville South (no seniors) will be young and finish at the bottom of the Lake conference but they do have some young talent. Next year South will be a contender but North has some bad year's get threw. Both teams will win a few if they are taken lightly. Both teams will be fighting for last place. Rosemount finally has someone to play with. AV will "Take the Lake" this year. Interesting that South is in Class A come playoffs. Playing a Lake Conference schedule could put them in a good situation in 3A sections.

in regards to your comment on lakeville's senior class being the worst goose and whoever have coached. id like to point out the fact that they took 3rd place at the VFW state tournament when they were bantam A's. they would have been a solid team if not for loss of players due to transfers including: cameron cooper, brandon rogers, matt beggs, kevin barr, and kent detlefsen. and if taking third in the state tournament is the worst group out of lakeville then they must be amazing huh? need i say anymore you hockey expert!

Looks like south is already being taken lightly for the 2006-2007 campaign too?

Not seeing how predictable the outcome is when there is only 1 player from the class of "07" in the entire conference (hint... he wears powder blue) that is capable of leading his team all the way to the title?

.... Isn't that why they play the game?

Back to what is known about Lakeville... look for North to be middle of the pack and South to be fighting it out with Kennedy and Rosemount for the Cellar this year. Since most of the underclassmen from last years JV went south, it's probably safest to expect the opposite the following year.

The good news for both is they are still contenders in their respective sections.

Got anything to say about my comment sticklicker? In my opinion it seems that randy schmitz may have something to do with all of these transfers leaving lakeville. but one thing is for sure randy schmitz doesnt have a clue about the game is to be played and more importantly coached!

Pipe and I seem to agree about LNHS and LSHS this year and next. Obviously the coaching staff plays a part in team success but it's the players that make the real difference. Players transfering to a better program is a fact of life in the MHSL these days. Whining about what "could have been" is a mood point.
Lakeville has produced some very good hockey players in their youth program. Many have moved on to better programs in high school. I think they made the right decision.
I still think LSHS will be a contender this year in 3A playoffs and next year they will be even better.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... klicker at: 10/14/05 7:41 am

How can all you people say that Lakeville South will be a contender???? they have not 1 player who has played a single game of varsity and you expect them to jump right in and be "at the top of the lake"..yeah i really dont see that happening. They wont get ANY help from their Bantam A team..well its pretty self explainitory about that. Also with the comment about AVHS they have 2 defensemen and 1 goalie..where is the scoring??? Last time i checked usually you have to have a scoring line to compliment those defensemen. What happens when Medvec and his D-Partner are not on the ice?? And as for Rosemount. I think this could be the turning point for that hockey program. With the leaving of Coach Don and the addition of the 4 sophomores who pose a very good scoring line(saintey, percy, brown) and then new Coach Macho i believe that Rosemount could go places this year. They have the depth that a good hockey team needs..there is only one thing they need to do stay out of the box it will kill them.

Nobody is saying they will be good in the Lake conference this year or even next year but South has a good chance to do well in 3A playoffs this year and next year they might to do very well if things come together.
