Section 3A : 2015-2016
Moderators: Mitch Hawker, east hockey, karl(east)
Just watched Marshall beat Waseca 5-3 in Marshall. Game was 5-0 in 3rd period when Marshall picked up back-to-back 5' majors (checking from behind) with 10' game misconducts. Waseca scored 3 straight PP goals including two at a 5-3 advantage.
Nothing to get excited about. Can't start any arguments over this game or set of teams.

After watching Them play lately that's a bet I'll take.Whiner33 wrote:Redwood will not make it out of the first round.....Teak wrote:Redwood Valley knocked off Marshall 5-3 in Redwood Falls on Tuesday. Luverne goalie Ericson: 16svs/25shots = 64%
This would be a decent number..... for a lacrosse goalie.
Being in the right position 80% of pucks will just hit you. Trust me.
(being in the right position is more difficult for some... clearly)

Redwood has the best win of any team in the section. They split with New Ulm and beat Luverne so I give the four seed to Redwood at this time. If New Ulm beats Luverne then the whole thing is different.Corn Cobb wrote:Seedings based upon games played to date. Thoughts?
1. Luverne
2. LDC
3. Hutch
4. New Ulm
5. Redwood
6. Willmar
7. Marshall
8. Windom
9. Fairmont
10. Morris-Benson
11. Worthington

Obviously their system is working. They've gotten better as the season has gone on. Usually those teams are the ones that tend to make some kind of run in the playoffs, for example, Marshall a couple years back running through the section to state.Whiner33 wrote:Redwood will not make it out of the first round.....Teak wrote:Redwood Valley knocked off Marshall 5-3 in Redwood Falls on Tuesday. Sorry I've been so absent. Been ironing my Cardinal red Luverne jacket with sections approaching. Find me in the top row at games yelling at other peoples kids.Grocery_Stick wrote:Obviously their system is working. They've gotten better as the season has gone on. I see the STREMCHA gang is still winning games. Must be why the thread is so blah blah as of late.

Orono vs Hutch was a very good game. Up and down with both teams getting good chances. Some very good goaltending by two sophomore goaltenders. The rematch comes next week in Orono on the big ice. The best part if the game was the refreshing attitude of Orono coach Mark Parrish. He was always positive and encouraging his players. Only hope the Orono parents leave him alone and give him a chance. He is exactly the type of coach HS hockey needs more of. Great hire by Orono.

Orono and Hutchinson have an interesting similar opponent in Luverne.Tigers95 wrote:Orono vs Hutch was a very good game. Up and down with both teams getting good chances. Luverne VS Hutch was a whitewashing 8 -0
Luverne was beaten (I thought throughly) by Orono 4-1.
This result seems like such a surprise. I would say the Hutch Tendy stole one but shots on goal dont tell that story at all.
Were you at both games Tigers95?
notTonight you've got to remember these are HS kids. You never know who is going to show up. I was not at the Luverne game. Shots in the Orono game were very even. Actually Hutch had the better opportunities in my opinion and the Orono goalie kept it a one goal game. Hutch played fairly physical and I think that slowed Orono down on the regulation rink. Not sure Hutch will be able to keep up with Orono on the big rink. It will be interesting to see which a Hutch team shows up against LDC on Friday. Playoffs are right around the corner.

Hardly. LDC up 5-1 when I left with 2 minutes left. Certainly not running time, but LDC were easily the better team.notTONIGHT wrote:Litch in run timeTeak wrote:Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato at Marshall tomorrow night. Should be interesting.
LDC has a good set of players with Casey Peterson and David Raisanen forming an awesome first line. Forgot who the other winger is. Ben Haugo is easily the best defenseman in 3A that I have seen this season. They could give Luverne a run at the 3A section title, but Luverne's first two lines would have the edge methinks. LDC plays at Hutch tomorrow night so that will be an interesting matchup as LDC took the first game 6-3 in Litchfield, if my memory serves me correctly.
Next up for Marshall is Luverne on Monday. Another loss. The Marshall players don't move their feet which makes them look so much slower than LDC players who hustled the entire game. When Marshall was on the power play, LDC probably had more shots on goal due to their hustle.
