Wayzata at Hermantown 11-27-15

Post by hockeyfan2612 »

This should be one of the most thrilling games of this early season. We get to see the best team in A versus arguably the best team in AA. Wayzata did beat Edina 4-2 this last weekend. How do you feel this game will go?

It's early in the season, but I think this is a pick 'em game with the advantage going to the home team. I'll take Hermantown 4-3, and am hoping this is a great game.

No matter how this particular game ends up, it seems like this might have been an interesting year in a one-class format since there doesn't seem to be the clearly dominant AA teams at the start of the season like there have been in recent years.

This will be Hermantown’s first game of the season and the 3rd year that HT plays Wayzata. HT has not beaten Wayzata.
I am going with Wayzata as Hermantown has not had the depth to roll with Wayzata for 3 periods.
As with last year, it may be close in the first 2 periods, but Wayzata will put them away in the 3rd period.

Wayzata 4-2

After the end of the Elite season and before the Turket trot, I would have said HT by 3 goals. Then someone who was watching some scrimmages last two weeks reiterated that HT might be a little short on offensive depth. Then I see Wayz beat MG and ED. So Im tempted to change my mind.

Wayz will have a lot of confidence coming off the Edina win.

HT has the home ice advantage and a lot riding on this game.

Aamodt is best Dman in state and likely Mr. Hockey candidate.

Schilling could possibly be the best goalie in the state

All in all, a very tough game to predict.

As usual, game momentum will be key.

For some reason, I think HT will get the jump on them with the first, and then go on to win by 2.

This isn't an important game for the Trojans. Yea they want to win but in the grand scheme of things the coaching staff will probably play 4 lines and 8 defense constantly the whole game. This game has no bearing on seeding in three months. Playing two tough games the week before and playing East less than 18 hours later they will probably play their back up goalie as well. The flip side this is a super bowl game for h town. They want to make a statement beat the big bad AA team that just beat Edina. For wayzata it's a trap game for the kids and a survival game for the coaches....play 20 kids and see what happens happens. Try to steal one then regroup and try to beat East the next day a lot bigger win for later on. They would be 3 and 1 on the season. Wayzata coaches happy h town happy. Htown 5. Wayzata 1. GB.

I would assume they need to follow the same roster requirements for this game or is it different when playing AA vs A? 20 players one of which must be a spare goalie. Therefore 18 skaters is your limit.

Hermantown easy win. I could see them winning by at least 6 or 7

Wayzata vs Hermantown

GoldenBear:

You can only dress 20 players; no way they can roll 4 lines and 8 defenseman and have 2 goalies

So since it "has no bearing on seeding in three months" don't take it seriously? Seems like the identity of a championship team! Unreal. I can tell you this: LN team last year didnt give a $%!* if they were playing East on championship sat at the X or scrimmaging their own JV team in mid November, they wanted to destroy everyone....and I think every championship team has that same attitude/demeanor.

Would love to see Hermantown clean up the spoiled, cocky O'Leary team from the west metro. Embarrassment of riches with youth program over there GB. Time to start producing at HS level in my opinion.

I'll be there tonight. I say Hermantown 4-1.

6 HS stories this weekend:

HT/WAY
GR/Tonka
WAY/DE
PL/EP
East Ridge/East View
Apple Valley/Coon Rapids
Jefferson/Denfeld

Not to mention a full boat of Youth Title games Sunday

Should be a fun weekend

Here is a post I did that predicts all 67 HS games this weekend: http://www.youthhockeyhub.com/news_arti ... _id=967184

I would love to see Hermantown win this one, I just don't think it will happen. Say what you want about Wayzata, but my hat is off to them for coming up to the North to play both Hermantown and East back to back.

Hawks and Trojans 0-0 after 1. SOG 10-8 Hawks. Hermantown was the better team in the first.

After 1 It is 0-0
Shots according to Hermantown scoreboard is 10-8 in favor of the Hawks.

I just tuned in on the online stream with probably 6 minutes left in the first, but Hermantown had a breakaway and a 2-1. They had better scoring chances in the few minutes that I saw.
Wayzata had better zone time, but really no good looks. The Trojans bottled up the Hawks near the end of the period to close the gap in shots, but none of them looked to be very dangerous.

The feed is not great, but the commentators are pretty funny. They said it was a pretty even first period.
Sounds like the varsity game was delayed because a big hit in the JV game broke part of the glass.

Start of the 2nd and Hermantown is flying. Sandalin and Watkins had 3 or so chances between the two of them in about 30 seconds. Wayzata goalie came up big.
