I see where MSHS League now recognizes the new NORTH/TARTAN co-op
for girls hockey this year. I would guess that they will play Tartan's schedule and not North St Paul's. The Hub shows NSP as having only 14 games, with 2 vs Tartan. that would leave 12 games cancelled . Sibley and Simley also have 2 games each vs NSP.
One note, The Coon Rapids/ SLP does not appear to be recognized , hopefully, someone has more info about it

I don't like to see Metro Coops like this. Makes me worry about the state of girl's hockey. I know we've been seeing drops in the numbers of teams, but I was hoping things could become a little more steady. North St. Paul has had some really good teams in the past 10 years and now they are a co-op. Although one could argue they would have been anyway had Tartan and NSP become one school as was proposed 10 years ago. And there is no reason Spring Lake Park should be in a coop. They just doubled the size of the high school due to all the SFH's that have popped up in Blaine the last decade (several thousand homes).
Okay, but as of right now the slp/coon rapids co-op is not recognized by mshs league. Co-op 433 slp/st anthony village is...time is short, hence the questiongreybeard58 wrote:St Anthony is not part of the CR/SLP coop
These co-ops are the tip of the iceburg, acouple of years ago there were 120 girls hs teams..be prepared for the number to drop to 100 in a short amount of time.
I just checked the section assignments for the upcoming season. There are currently 119 varsity girls high school teams - 56 in A, 63 in AA. However, only 55 if the SLP - Hopkins co-op is true, and it's not hard to see AA going to 60 within 3 years or so (MV / I, WBL, Roseville, etc.)nu2hockey wrote:Okay, but as of right now the slp/coon rapids co-op is not recognized by mshs league. Yeah , if all co-ops happen as expected , that means 55 A & 62 AA. That includes the addition of Duluth Marshall.
A list of schools with weak down line numbers starts with:
Moundsview, Irondale, Roseville, White Bear, South St Paul, Eagan...plus small rural class A are having declines that jeopardize them fielding a team.
All that aside , can't wait for season to start
