Prediction Contests Wrap-Up

Post by sinbin »

Now that the prognostication season is over, it's time to dole out the season awards. I looked at this in several different ways, mostly to see if there was any possible way that I could be included somewhere near the top, since it was a subpar season for yours truly. Or, perhaps I merely regressed to the mean. In any event, I divided these up into the weekly contests, the holiday tournaments, the sectional tournaments, and the State tournaments, as well as overall. Then, looked at 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place, as well as total points during the regular season.

Overall -- hope these line up OK

So, clearly MNHockeyFan was this year's champion prognosticator. Perhaps he now has too much time on his hands . . . or perhaps his predictive abilities are improving with age like a vintage wine. MNHockeyFan, the modest man that he is, will likely attribute some of this to luck and we certainly can't fully discount that possibility. But, clearly, he enjoyed an historic season and raised the bar for the rest of us for next year.

As for second place, that could certainly go either to panpan111 or D6Fan. Both had multiple victories. panpan111 had a weekly win and the holiday tournament win and finished second in the State tournament. D6GirlsFan had 3 regular weekly wins, but did not participate in the playoff contests, so might have been able to pick up some additional hardware there, but we'll never know.

Maverick2000 also deserves honorable mention for winning two weekly contests.

Again, thanks to all participants this year. Have a safe and productive offseason and see you this Fall.

Finally! I had confidence in myself and knew that if I kept trying it would happen eventually!

Well there might be some truth to that . . .

"Vintage" sounds SO OLD! :( But again there might be something to that, so I must ask, how long does vintage wine stay vintage?

Well I have been tinkering with my prognostication "system", and each year it keeps getting a little better, kind of like a vintage wine. ;)

As the Gopher student section likes to chant, "That's Debatable!" ::lol::

And thanks again to you, sinbin, for all you've done this season.
