No inside dope here, but I am a bit bemused that they'd get worked up over the right to lose to Edina by 4 goals. I understand the rivalry aspect, and you always want to extend your season by another game, but still.

From what I saw the game was getting chippy with about 7 seconds left they took a faceoff and Jefferson iced it. The clock still had 1 second left and they took the last faceoff which is when the fight began.

NOT a brawl

Post by wingnuts »

I was at the game and I'm mad that the media is portraying this as a bench clearing brawl. It was NOT a bench clearing brawl. It was simply the end of the game and the Jaguar and Holy Angel players were leaving they're bench, as they do after every game. There was a skirmish that escalated to a couple of punches thrown, but it was NOT a brawl.
In my opinion, there was plenty of showboating after each goal, one of which had the 5 Holy Angels players jumping on the glass, "Ovechkin style", right in front of the Jaguar student section. It didn't help matters when after the Jaguars scored the final goal with 44 seconds left, a Jaguar played was being a little to cocky towards the Holy Angel players.
There absolutely should have been penalties called by the referees throughout this matchup, so it didn't escalate as it did.

The referees allowed this to get way out of hand. But this was NOT a brawl.

Aha vs Jeff

Not a brawl? No penalties handed out? Why don't we just give the kids the right to fight at the drop of the puck and leave the refs at home.

In the words of the late Stuart Scott "C'mon man!"

Not a full Brawl but a brawl. It started way back in the second period. Refs lost control and the coaches had no control. But as a loyal AHA fan, I am disgusted by the lack of control by them and Jefferson. Either team could have one if they would have stayed composed.

It wasn't close to a "brawl." It was a scrum among the players that began with the players on the ice as time expired and then included players from both teams as they went on the ice at the end of the game. It was pushing & shoving that was over within 30 seconds. Then both teams lined up and shook hands. High emotions among heated rivals in a big playoff game, but certainly NOT a bench clearing brawl.

I quoted Holy Angels as I patrolled the Co-Star blue line in the 80's and was no Angel !!
