7AA Quarterfinal: Cloquet @ St. Michael-Albertville

Post by TheHockeyDJ »

Was 3-0 STMA last night, now it's next Tuesday, same bat time same bat channel. Will STMA take advantage of earning the 4 seed and home ice, or will Esse lead the Jacks to an upset?

The better question is who would Elk River prefer to face in the semi-finals.

Why wouldn't it be? This should be a great matchup. Coach Esse is up there with Randolph as far as tacticians go. I see this one going into OT with the Jacks advancing. Either team will give Elk River a run for their money.

I'm case you didn't know we have a coach also,,

Not gonna be close. Just my opinion.. Should've been 2-0 after the the first 4 shifts but stma hit double pipes and had another go wide of net.

But I'm biased

Says the person that didn't understand how section playoff brackets work before tonight? As for Esse, to inform you, he has a history of getting his team ready to pull off upsets in sections. I believe it wasn't too long ago he took the 8 seed Jacks to 1 seed Elk River and took them to overtime in the quarterfinals. STMA has a coach, but Esse is a wiley veteran.

DJ, it was in the 2-7 game last year. Too many men penalty in OT. I remember because they stole the one seed.

If you go back to my post you will see that I said we would be 4th with an outside shot at 3rd.. Thats exactly what happened... I believe I was right on with all I said. So 😄😜

That being said, I will stand by that STMA beats Cloquet again and moves on

Respect is earned not given. ER, East, GR and CEC have earned it. I hope not all STMA folks have your attitude CRW.

This post is about the Cloquet vs STMA game so your last post is on the wrong forum..as was mind, kind of.. And yes we believe we're gonna win, why wouldn't we ... Our kids have earned the respect whether you want to give it or not... And who cares what you did in the past it's about now... I don't see the Edmonton Oilers winning any cups now...

No, there was another game about 4-5 years ago. Fully aware of last season. I'll look it up.

2010, 8 seed Cloquet lost 4-3 at 1 seed Elk River. Didn't say if it was OT or not.

I expect this game to be more competitive than Tuesday's game. It will be fun to see who wins. Slight edge to STMA I believe.

With tradition comes respect, you nailed it with this post CRW, 1st ever Mississippi 8 Championship.... Not the hockey hotbed of the state.

Very promising future with a lot of upcoming talent, but don't underestimate the value of a seasoned coach come section time!

Hey, I am the guy that picked STMA to win the section, that will earn respect.

Good Luck tonight, take home the prize and turn focus to the next prize!

What? The Mississippi 8 title game is more important than the actual playoffs? Interesting...

STMA is the better team. They should win 4-1 ish. Esse this and Esse that. Great, he's had his team ready in the past, congratulations! I can tell you from first hand experience (standing 20 feet from the guy in the last game) that he does work the refs. He was pissing and moaning that STMA was skating in the wrong end during the 2nd period warmups and he wanted a penalty. At the end of the second, he calls all 3 refs over (and like sheep they went) and proceeded to cry about how he thought a lot of hits were coming in high. Within 30 seconds of the 3rd, STMA was in the box for elbowing.

CEC had a good breakout and better than average neutral zone play but the STMA defense owned them in their zone. CEC's D were overwhelmed on quite a few occasions by STMA's top end forward talent.

CEC is very formidable, but I don't see them winning this one.
