Where are all the haters??
Congratulations, you're over .500 now! It's a good win. Not sure who the haters are. I just deal with facts. One game over .500 doesn't lock up a 2 seed.
Says the stma homer. Next year have your AD put together a respectable schedule then someone might listen
Facts are coaches vote, northern bloc will not be kind to STMA. The schedule is to soft, even if they beat Cloquet. Will have to prove it at Amsoil. A place that hasn't been to kind to the southern teams.

Any questions?
Hermantown- 10

Grand Rapids- 2

At your home ice. ???

Having a terrible record against single A teams. ???

Not making it to state the past six years. ???

Young, undisciplined team. (a coach's worst nightmare in playoffs) ???

I have many questions.

I still don't get why people bring up their poor record against single A teams when they play AA. Yeah, it does not look great, but besides the hibbing tie its not like they have lost to bad single A teams.
Plus, if you take the single A games out of the equation, that makes them 9-5-1 against AA teams, which is respectable.

Someone is mad their favorite team lost to the team in question 5-1. I also love the insinuation that all "Single A" teams are on the same level of talent, as if Hermantown or EGF, because they are A, are less talented than say AA teams like Cambridge or St. Francis. AA or A doesn't matter. Karl needs to talk some sense into you.

It was on Hermantown's ice. Yeah it was a terrible game against an elite team. It happens.

Terrible record against single A teams? Hermantown, Marshall, Mahtomedi are very solid clubs that would perform admirably at the AA level, case in point Marshall is opting up next year. Still waiting for Randolph to schedule Hermantown. Or is he afraid of losing to a lowly class A program like Hermantown?

Why are you bringing up the past? Worried the hounds best years are behind them while Rapids has a bright future?

The team is young but they have several stand out players and their defense and goaltending seem to be getting better every game.

I think any of Elk River, East, Rapids, and STMA could be in the Section Final. Cloquet I wouldn't be surprised to see in the semi-finals. Andover is going to need a great game from their goalie and Tyler Vold in the quarters to advance. Forest Lake seems very up and down, they have a good top line, but their goaltending just isn't what it used to be when they had Garcia.

One loss after watching Rapids lose over and over again the past six years? I'll take it.

Nice win by Rapids last night. If they can follow up with another one today, I think it would be safe to say they've arrived.

STMA has an interesting game against Buffalo today. It's not a great measuring stick, but Buffalo is their only serious competition for the Mississippi 8 title, so it'll at least tell us something about them.

East plays a team that is comparably ranked to them in the computerized rankings in Maple Grove, so we'll see if they can continue to build on their recent decent play, too.

I am a STMA guy
1. Elk River- Beat East and should anonymously receive 1st seed
2. Grand Rapids.- Has 2 seed locked up. The win against CEC cancels out the loss IMO
3. Duluth East- Is the 3 seed unless the beat Elk River. That would throw a wrench into the top 3
4. St. Michael/Albertville- A win or tie against CEC locks up home ice in the quarters. Even have an argument with a loss to CEC
5. Forest Lake- Has the 5 seed if they can beat Andover
6. Cloquet/Esko/Carlton- Needs Forest Lake to lose to Andover or they need to beat STMA if they want the 5.
7. Andover- Need to beat Flake or they will be in GR on the 17th of February
8-9. Winner of the St. Francis and Cambridge/Isanti gets home ice on Valentines Day.

On STMA. There is no way in hell that they can get the 3 seed. Even if CEC beats East, East beat them earlier so the games cancel each other out IMO. STMA lost the East and East lost to Rapids and Rapids lost to ER. There is absolutely no logic behind STMA gettting the 3 seed. Hopefully the can get to AMSOIL and knock off ER on the 21st and make some noise in sections to improve their schedule. Would like to see them schedule ER and GR if they stay in 7AA.

White Bear Lake 5, Rapids 0. White Bear pretty much dominated play. Rapids had a few chances but not many. Almost (Rapids did get the puck out of their zone more) a replay of the Greenway/White Bear game but at least Greenway scored.

Is it impressive because of the score? Because that is not a win against a quality opponent. But probably a win against a similar team to East.

In the big picture for Rapids to go 1-1 for their weekend cities trip is alright when both are top 10 teams. Yes it would have been nice to go 2-0 Or even give white bear a competitive game. I don't think it hurts their chances for the 2nd seed, some might say the Wayzata win pretty much locked up the 2nd seed.

East and Rapids, if by chance you happen to beat Elk River and go to state this year, you are gonna be 1 and done. Neither of you are very good or consistent. I hope you prove me wrong.

Even if true, it would still be better to go than not. Also, who cares about state until it happens. Sections are less than a month away, that's what matters.

Beating East 5-1, CEC 6-0, and Wayzata 1-0 is very good for a team that doesn't even have one senior forward. It's not like this team was expected to be on the same level as Lakeville North or Edina. Bottom line is this is a young team with a lot of potential that has rebounded nicely from their rough spot in mid-late December. The team and fans should be excited for the section playoffs. Another good primer next Saturday at Moorhead.

Back on January 14th you agreed with Curtiscuve and his analysis of the balance of the years games.. In which he said that STMA would lose at Buffalo.. If you agreed as you so said why are you surprised about the OT..

So it looks as STMA won a game that you thought they were gonna lose...hmmm

Hopefully they prove you wrong again vs Breck next week
