What's going on in Orono? I just heard that the high school coach was let go after the game on Saturday.

Yes - the coach at Orono has been removed. Parents at it again in Orono. No surprise given history over the past 6 years and it seems like a lot of the same family names involved over that timeframe too.

What exactly happened to get let go in middle of year after going to state last year? Seems really strange. I heard it's nutty over there, but does anyone have any insight?

In a nutshell:

Crazy/Entitled parents that Coach would not entertain.

Backstabbing Assistant Coaches that did entertain.

Pathetic Administration.

None of which care about inflicting damage on the integrity and reputation of an extremely good person.

Sounds like a nightmare. Can't say any of this stuff ever surprises me though...

Its bad enough when parents try to influence there children's success in hockey throughout the squirt, peewee, bantam years, by intimidating coaches with their know it all attiitude, status or just stupidity. Its getting old, But to continue beyond that seems to be pure spiteful, with deeper issues, sociopath comes to mind. It is Orono! who wears the pants in Orono anyway? The coach they drummed out will be coaching again soon because he is good. I wish the puppet they replace him with in Orono good luck! He or she will need it.

Rumor is the coach will be coming back.

Investigation found it was only two sets of parents with a problem.

1. my son upchucked during practice (that never happens in hockey)

2. my son was injured during a three on three down low drill. (OMG)

Herbie is rolling over!!

Unbelievable!!!

Maybe the Orono administration will do the right thing after all.

So much for parent coaching!
Now they can babysit at home during the rest of the playoffs and enjoy state with cookies and brownies, mmm hot coco too. sweet dreams.
Cant blame the coach though. Enjoy the two fingers no ice!!

Was a parent really coaching? Did they get rid of their coach mid-season?

I hope the Orono, coach that got booted out by the parents gets the same result as the Roseville coach with a law suit. Parents of a hockey player should not be able to wreck a kids life because of there influence or the administration.
Read the thread on the Roseville coach winning his case.

I hope you lose one hundred times the amount of money you spent on your sons hockey over the years to replace the fact that you had a good coach and wrecked his life to help your under achieving babies.

Hell i hope he sues the school district of Orono, this is the most injustice i have seen in my 55 years living.

I hate lawyers but i hope one out there cleans your clock.

4 coaches in 5 years is what i heard, obviously a problem with the admin, or the parents.

Bantam team is in state, i suppose that coach is on the hot seat too.

No, the school district gag ordered him and tossed him in the closet. His assistant coaches took over and did a stellar job losing in the section semi's.
What a great community. Money, power, prestige still can't buy a hockey player. Nowhere to hide within the boards of an ice sheet.
