Mid-Season Surprises?

Post by Inthecrease »

Now that the Holiday Tournaments are over, what are your favorite surprise teams that are better then pre-season predictions? Any busts? Do the names change for Mr. Hockey finalists?

Mid-Season Predictions
8AA Moorhead. I didn't see Bemidji being where they are but they lack a strong schedule. Could haunt them. Buffalo can surprise some, just ask Stillwater
7AA Grand Rapids if they can stay consistent,
6AA Deep section....take your pick of the top 5. All can compete
5AA Blaine
4AA Strong section and it will be the long time rivalry between HM and WBL in the section championship.
3AA St. Thomas Academy
2AA Edina. Prior Lake is better than I thought they would be but they could falter near tourney time. Great goaltender in Scites though and he could be the X factor.
1AA Lakeville North

I hope you're right with most of these picks, though I would like to see Prior Lake upset Edina, and when I go to Mariucci I hope the other game is Wayzata vs. Eden Prairie. Really want Bemidji to come out of 8AA.

How about Hopkins? 10-2-0? Pretty impressive.

Maddie Rooney has played pretty well for Andover. I'd say that's impressive.

Duluth East being down is a surprise.

Greenway has had a fair amount of success. About time.
