Hutch 5 Mound Westonka 3
Hutch wins a big in Mound a team who hammered both Willmar and NU this season. Looks like the Senior Allen got the start and was very solid stopping 34 of 37 shots.
Beware of Hutch they are a dangerous team> If they get solid tending they can beat anyone in this section. Just need to put 3 games together.
Section 3A Scout,
I do not often agree with Section 3A Scout but i do agree Hutch is dangerous and if Luverne does play them again they will have to play better than they did Friday night because Hutch is going to bring it .
3A Scout asked why Luverne was traveling to Hutch again this year to play. The truth is Hutch and LCD will not play them if they have to drive to Luverne. The Luverne Coaching staff has made the commitment to drive there or anywhere to play the best teams they can. Luverne over the years have always had a good fan base becasue they are not AFRAID TO TRAVEL like other teams in the Section.
3A Scout I need to correct you because you always talk about Luverne annual choking in the playoffs. That is not a true statement, yes last year they did. But until last year they have played well in the playoffs;
2010 They were the #7 seed and upset # 2 seed Redwood Valley
2011 #5 seed lost to # 4 seed at Marshall
2012 upset Marshall in Semifinals
2013 lost to Marshall
I have no problem with you not liking Luverne but make sure when you bash them or make negative comments at least you have the correct facts to back it up.
For the Luverne Faithful:
As far as thinking Providence Academy is a cake walk Luverne WAKE UP! It senior night for PA what better way to end your senior year than to upset a undefeated Luverne.
They played a terrible game against New Ulm. Everything went right for New Ulm. The next day PA lost 3-2 to St. Paul Academy and have been in almost all there games this season against very good competition.
Luverne is only good when they play as a team and not worried about who scoring as long as the team is scoring. PA will be a great battle before playoffs for Luverne. It just what the Doctor ordered.
For All of you Section 3A Fans,
The Section is going to come down to goaltending plain and simple so anyone of the following teams could win.
New Ulm
Hutch
Willmar
Luverne
LCD (yes this could happen remember last year)
Marshall (yes this could happen remember last year)
That is why you play the game and that why MN High School hockey is so great.
Solid Post!
All I will say is the Luverne Faithful need stop talking about state and worry about the Section. That is why I bash them they literally have put themselves in the State Tourney.
They have learned NOTHING from last year. Hutch is ready for Round 2. The first meeting means nothing.
I still remember the shocked and somber Luverne Faithful faces leaving Gustavus last year after their CHOKE JOB..... Why would any Luverne fan be on here proclaiming they are state bound this year?
Some one asked for a Bold Prediction earlier today here is: Luverne WILL NOT be coming out of this Section.

Willmar is my pick have kept quiet on here. I am cheering for those Red Cardinals.
Well I do have to say section 3A never fails to bring enjoyment to the forums. I also love the passion that the people of this section bring to the game.
3A Scout I do have to ask what makes you think you are even qualified to be a scout?
I have no dog in the race just love the passion of this section and have been following it all season. You clearly love Hutch and hate Luverne. If people did not think the team they cheer for can make it to state every year then why even play the games. Maybe we should just ask the "scouts" of each section who should be at state and then not play the games just grab these 8 teams and move them onto the state tournament. If the fans of my team did not feel they were capable of making it to state I would not want them as fans.
I think if you want to be considered a "scout" of section 3A you need to be unbiased and give actual facts. Not giving your biased nonfactual posts.
But hey its always nice to come on here and be able to laugh at you scout you make it so easy.

Hey don't discourage 3A Scout! The ranting back and forth between him and the rabid Luverne fans is priceless. Every game is different and as everyone knows, it is much harder to beat a team multiple times in a season than to beat them once. All the concern about seeding at state and comparisons to MW are a little presumptuous. I am hoping that the Luverne players and coaches are not the ones posting here because if they are, their lack of section focus is frightening. If Luverne has been this successful so far I have to hope their coach has them ready. One game at a time! Overlook no one.

I don't think I will ever understand posters who come to a website that is purely about hockey discussion. Then try to reign in posters who want to discuss things. Reading every post on here, I dont think I have read a single person declaring Luverne the section champion.
Why get all wound up about discussions on a thread designed specifically for discussion? Then accuse the people discussing "the future," of overlooking games and not caring about opponents?

p_cku, I agree with your last post, very nice. Like you said, this Friday Providence Academy will not be a cake walk. Like you said, senior night AND Luverne has a four hour bus ride ahead of them as well. Even though, Luverne has played pretty well on the road. I think we are in for a heck of a game Friday night. notTONIGHT are you going? Some updates like you usually do, would be appreciated! And Scout, nobody has actually said "Luverne is going to state." We all know it's going to be a very entertaining playoff this year and I can't wait!!!

Why get all wound up indeed Herb. Just hoping Luverne has their focus in the right place? Go ahead and discuss away all the goalie comparisons and whah whah why wouldn't Luverne be seeded at state etc. But don't wonder why people might tend to think you are leaping a bit ahead. Discussion vs obsession? JMO so fire away.

When they play EGF at the X, I will be cheering for the Green Wave..fastncrash wrote:Atta boy! That's why we like you Elliott!elliott70 wrote:I will go out on a limb and pick Luverne as the #A rep to state.
I think they have too much offense for the rest of 3A.
Make sure 3A Spaghetti Trout isn't standing on that SAME limb as you! There's NOT been a good track record there!
or the Hawks of Hermantown...
any one else and go Cardinals (Cardinals, right??)/

Mascot power rankings!
Eagles x2 (Windom, NUSE) Stoic animal, Impressive features, great national following
Tigers x2 (Hutch, Marshall) Magnificent creature. Combines size, power, and stealth.
Dragons (LDC) Loses points for being mythical. Really powerful stuff here, I mean all the flames and everything.
Cardinals x4(Luverne, Redwood, Faimont, Willmar) Really doesn’t bring a lot to the table. They make a unique sound I guess.
Trojans (Worthington) The fake horse incident really brings this one down. The prophylactic company doesn’t help.
Storm (Morris-Benson) Starts and ends with the fact the word doesn’t end with “S”. CMON
Maybe this is more of an appropriate conversation piece for those who dislike, you know, actual hockey chatter.

crash
Ya, fer sure! You see how easy it can happen?elliott70 wrote:I 'crashed' pretty quick like.

Le Sueur et. al was beating Marshall 6-2 when Teak left the building with 2:00 minutes left. Campion played poorly as did the Tiger skaters. Lot of lethargy and lack of hustle.
Still, Le Sueur played well. Their frosh center Isaac Westphal scored two goals, and a super quick soph, Alex Hoehn, scored a shorty.
Don't hold your breath thinking that Campion is going to lead Marshall to another set of upsets in the playoffs. You heard it first right here!

Like I said, in the past years Marshall has had some scoring and solid defenseman and this year they dont..especially no offense so far, when they play decent teams.Teak wrote:Le Sueur et. al was beating Marshall 6-2 when Teak left the building with 2:00 minutes left. Delano Slips past Hutch 3 to 2. The Senior Allen had 40 saves on 43 shots. Goalie does make a 6 goal difference!!
Delano beat Hutch handily 8-0 two weeks ago. Just goes to show the Luverne fans one game MEANS NOTHING!!!
Hutch is lurking and will be ready to upset Luverne come Playoffs!!

Or Luverne is better than Delano, pry the case IMO having not seen Delano but very up to date with Luverne, Luverne faithful, I'll use this opportunity to say you misinterpreted me last time, I was not putting you head to head with EGF, I was implying great hockey exists without begging credit for it, it's just how it is. I know how it is, I'm an alumni that wants to see my boys flourish, but if you kids could shut up for a second you might find your boys can talk with or without you. 3A thread is reality tv, insecure, self concious but not self aware.

Section 3A Scout you should just really come out and say that you are a Hutch fan and have a kid on the team. Because you for sure are not a scout of hockey. You are just like the Luverne fans which actually have a reason to be bragging about how good their team is. I would pay money to see you an nottonight in a boxing ring now that would be a fun match up to watch.
