Average (CW) score: 2.77 to 2.77!!!
Saturday: Achiever Academy vs. Dodge County (16-14-1)
Average (CW) score: 3.19 to 3.03
Saturday: Hopkins vs. Minnetonka (12-16-3)
Average (CW) score: 2.03 to 2.19
Should be a fun week!

How long does mono keep a kid out? And I hate to hear the concussion injuries. Hope everyone is back healthy for playoff time!

Recovery from Mono, if it really is not mis-diagnosed, is variable at best, but generally 4 to 6 weeks, sometimes more. Really puts a drain one an athlete's conditioning. I think the Hopkins girl is out for the season, Kate Hallet at SPU might be back?
The key is not to rush the recovery on this one, because you end up pro-longing the symptoms.

Our first Week 12 result is in:
Maple Grove 5, Armstrong/Cooper 1
Showing a balanced offense, five different players scored for the Crimson in their 5-1 win at New Hope Ice Arena. Abby Larson scored one of those goals, which came short handed while her team was killing a 5 minute major in the 3rd period. Larson also added an assist, while Katie Josephson contributed two helpers. Maple Grove outshot Armstrong/Cooper 31-22, with goaltender Coco Francis stopping all but one of the 22 shots she faced. The two teams will meet again in their last game of the regular season on February 1st.
In our contest 24 of 31 picked the winner, but only one of the 24 – wolfman – got the score right. Most predicted a much tighter game, with an average predicted score (CW) of 3-2.

Carlie Hart’s two goals led Stillwater past Cretin-Derham Hall in a Suburban East matchup at the St. Croix Rec Center. Ali Biagini had a goal and an assist while Taylor Naugle finished with two assists.
18 of 31 had the Ponies winning, while 11 had CDH and two predicted a tie. Nordic was the sole prognosticator to guess the score. Again, most thought it be a closer game, with an average score of 3-2.

Edina responded with three goals after Hopkins 8th grade forward Kylie Hanley opened the game’s scoring 7 minutes into the 2nd period, and the Class 2A 5th ranked Edina Hornets went on to defeat the top-ranked Hopkins Royals. Taylor Williamson tied the game four minutes after Hanley’s score, and the Hornets’ Jackie Pieper scored the game winner 4:22 into the 3rd period. Emily Fuchs scored Edina’s third goal with 3 ½ minutes to go. For the game Edina held a wide 37-17 margin in shots on goal.

Final game this evening:
Benilde-St. Margaret’s 4, Mounds View 3 (OT)
Kelly Pannek scored the overtime winner – her third goal of the game – to allow the Class 2A 3rd ranked Red Knights to escape the upset-minded and 14th ranked Mounds View Mustangs at the Schwan Super Rink. Brittany Wheeler assisted on the play, and she also had first assists on Pannek's other two goals. For Mounds View, leading scorer Bella Sutton had a goal and two assists while Sydney Brodt had a goal, including the Mustangs’ tying goal in the 3rd period that sent the game into overtime, plus one assist. For the game BSM outshot Mounds View 28-23.
With an average predicted score of 4.26 to 1.65 most of our prognosticators expected BSM would have an easier time winning this matchup. But with the Red Knights winning, all but two earned a point. There was one who did manage to get the score correct – nice job by wolfman, his second correct score of the night.

Another "fyi": As a longtime loyal Gopher fan I will be at the Xcel Arena for much of Friday and Saturday, so I'll be unable to post the usual timely updates on this week's final scores and standings. But rest assured, I take this job very seriously, and I promise to perform my 'self-assumed, critically important' duties on both nights, as soon as I am able!
