No matter how bad Marshall is or plays against other teams they will always have a good shot at upsetting Luverne. It's just the way it is. Luverne can never look past Marshall.
The best example is last year Semifinal upset by Marshall. They were not the better team all year but one game and a hot goalie they had a huge upset. But that why you play the game because you just never know

I'll agree they have a very bad schedule. But it doesn't help that they're in the Southwest Conference and that New Ulm refuses to play themThatHockeyGuy wrote:I just have to get this out there, but is Luverne even going to get any better playing their piss poor schedule?

L/D-C adjusts to Olson's absence

When the Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato boys hockey team takes the ice for Saturday’s game against Orono, it probably will do so without head coach Chris Olson on the bench.
Olson and his two sons, Braden and Ty, were injured in a car accident Friday night near Orono.
Olson has been discharged from the hospital, but he will be away from coaching indefinitely while his boys recover at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minn.
“I’ve been with him for six or seven years and I don’t know if he’s missed a game in that time,” L/D-C assistant coach Craig McKechney said. “You can’t really prepare for something like this. It’s just one of those things that happen in life. The team has great respect and love for the family. We’ll do what needs to be done to make them happy and proud.”
McKechney met with the team on Saturday for breakfast and provided the players with an update on the Olson family.
“I thought it was best to address everyone at the same time so everyone knew the real story,” McKechney said. “It’s tough talking about that kind of stuff, but we’re all one team here.”
“Everybody understood what went on and understood how things are going to be for a while,” L/D-C senior Braeden Wahl said. “We’re looking forward to getting (coach Olson) back to practice and seeing the boys around the rink again. We can’t wait for things to get back to normal.”
Instead of preparing for Saturday night’s game in Willmar, which was postponed, the players spent time making get-well cards.
“Everyone made one card to Ty, Braden and coach,” L/D-C sophomore Ben Haugo said. “We know (the cards) got there that same day. We hope they appreciated it and thought it was a good idea.”
L/D-C returned to practice Wednesday at Litchfield Civic Arena.
McKechney and the players are not expecting the same environment without Olson and his kids at the rink.
“Everybody who frequents that arena knows who Ty and Braden are, that’s for sure,” McKechney said. “Those kids are a big part of youth hockey and the high school team. They know the (high school) kids first and last names and their numbers. They are always around the rink and giving high fives. They certainly will be missed by everybody.”
“It will be weird not to see them around the rink. They do stuff with us before or after practice,” Haugo said. “It will be different but we’ll get to visit them when they recover. Hopefully they get back to being around the rink real soon.”
McKechney will assume the head coaching duties while Olson is away from the team, but it’s a familiar role for him.
McKechney won 64 games in five seasons as L/D-C’s coach from 1998 to 2002. Olson was hired as his replacement for the 2003-2004 season.
“(McKechney) will do a great job,” Wahl said. “We have all the faith in the world in him. It will work out great.”
Assistant coach Scott Raisanen will help out McKechney with the varsity team and take care of the JV squad until coach Olson returns.
“We talk or text every day. It’s mostly been family stuff,” McKechney said. “What we are dealing with is nothing compared to what he’s dealing with. We have to keep that in perspective.
“We would do the same things if I was there or if Chris was there,” McKechney added. “He’s got a lot more on his plate than hockey right now, so he doesn’t need to worry about what’s happening at the arena. It will be business as usual, but he certainly will be missed and we’ll be thinking about him and his family every day. We want them to get back here as soon as possible.”
For the players, they just want to get back on the ice.
With no games or practices for four consecutive days, the players have three days to refocus and prepare for a tough Orono team on Saturday.
“I think the team will take it in stride,” Haugo said. “Obviously, we’re sad (the accident) happened and we’re hoping for a quick recovery. Until then we’ll keep pushing forward and just play hockey.”
“I think it will bring us closer together,” Wahl said. “Hopefully it’s motivation to leave everything on the ice. We know that we have to come together and get through this and win games for coach.”

notTONIGHT please look into the Rochester schedule before you post something of that nature, the worst team on there schedule Is northfield who they beat 7-2 everyone else on that schedule is better than the best team that luverne has on there schedule, the game of hockey goes a lot further then the record of the team, please acknowledge that. Lourdes is a VERY GOOD TEAM... They have lost many one or 2 goal game this year to top end programs.
They are just so YOUNG. They Play freshman and Sophomores for the most part. They will be in the thick of it in 1A when it counts.
Very Solid Showing by New Ulm to lose in OT only. NU is quietly getting better and better. No one is talking them up too much but they are very dangerous and have found a great 2nd line combo to go with their first line.
My only issue with New Ulm is their refusal to play Luverne because that game needs to be played to have accurate seeds. What is the deal with that that anyways? Is Setterholm that arrogant that he wont play them? Just doesnt make any sense.
Side Note:
Sleepy Eye would have been a solid 3A team this year... You take away Helget, Heidersheidt, Beltz, Kopaeck and Berkner All SE kids from New Ulm wow would they be down this year. The Two Leading scorers are Sleepy Eye Residents and yet they cant even get their school mentioned in the teams name.... Sad
Hopefully Sleepy Eye gets some sense and leaves a program who treats their kids so poorly and goes back on their own.
