It will be interesting to see if you are right. If you are correct congratulations on calling last year's list of kids. It would be very disgraceful if this is the situation for all the kids that actually make an effort to want to represent Minnesota with dignity. Some of these players do deserve to make it based on what I saw, but, some don't. There were other players that don't have a "name" that set up a lot of plays, played position well and had great hockey sense.headshackers wrote:17s

Is it about team play and playing a position or individual skills? I heard Reebok jackets tell kids to play their position and move the puck but then it seems the kids picked are the ones that play more selfish and try going coast to coast with limited success. So is it better to fail 80% of the time for the sake of a dangle rush or simply play a "team" game at the expense of not being noticed?

From the beginning of the process through the national selections, selfish play is rewarded while team first play is not. Anyone that thinks differently is simply not being honest.Nuts&Bolts wrote:Is it about team play and playing a position or individual skills? This is absolutely correct. They need to have term limits on evaluators. Same thing year after year.

I think it's still worthwhile for out state kids; they don't have the chances for exposure that the metro ones do.Bluewhitefan wrote:Bottom Line - Don't waste your money.Mailman wrote:Good points, but since it seems the vast majority of 54/national spots are already taken before the district tryouts even, not sure it matters.
But they, and their parents, need to go into the process knowing that that is what they should use it for, exposure, etc., not for a chance at the 54's/national camp.
If that happens, icing on the cake. If not, it won't be a surprise then.
