Play a 45 game season, over 4 1/2 months that is 10 games a month, about 2 per week. Two games a week is not too much, heck you could knock those out with a Saturday doubleheader and still have 3-4 practices during the week. Practice to game ratio is 4 to 1 (counting the doubleheader as 1 event) under that scenario.
Can you play "double-headers" with the MN Hockey "required rest" rule (minimum 3 hour break between games)?

To me, practices at about a 2.5:1 ratio is more realistic for most families. Outside of tournaments, Squirt teams probably play about 20 games over a 3 month period, so 6-7 games a month. With a 2.5:1 ratio that is 15-17 practices (or practice hours) per month, so with games/practices/tournaments you are already at 5-6 days per week of structured hockey activities a week, unless you are doing something like having every practice be 90 minutes in length to reduce the number of "practice sessions".
Just giving you a hypothetical setup of how things could be done. The 3 hr rest rule is a joke. These young kids can easily play a game, resurface, and start a new game. When they start getting older and checking starts then I can see why there may be a need for a rest rule. Personally, I didn't like to rest as that just gave time for muscle atrophy to set in. Let's just keep playing.

This is a non-USA/MN hockey sanctioned event. Officials do not have to be certified. There will be no insurance coverage from USA Hockey. In essence this is the first AAA summer tournament of the year.

QuackerTracker, That being said regiestered players are not allowed to participate in non sanctioned tournaments until the state tournaments are complete and each association should be penalized accordingly especially Rosemount who is playing in both districts and the Squirtacular. Thoughts Elliott? I also heard there is talk about lowering the squirts amount of games is that true?

The applicable section of the MN Hockey Handbook appears to be under Youth Rules, team registration:

D. Teams formed for the purpose of post-season play, regardless of age division, can not be registered or sanctioned prior to the completion of the MH regular season. Players shall not be contacted regarding participation on these teams during MH-sanctioned activities. Any individual(s) violating this rule shall not be allowed to coach or manage a MH registered team for a period of one year.

Sanctioned? Clearly a no. registered, open for interpretation, but I would challenge the authority of MN Hockey to not allow players to register for an unsanctioned event. Festival in Andover this weekend, clearly teams were formed and players registered... If applicable to Squirtacular, my interpretation would be applicable to that event as well.... Just my two cents. To take this one step further... In the absolute form of registration and contact and applying it to the following sentence: Players shall not be contacted regarding participation on these teams during MH-sanctioned activities. Wouldn't every player that has registered for AAA this summer be in violation if they were contacted, or registered during MH season??? I guess you did find my skeleton for me palms as I have "contacted" several parents of the MG team I coach while actually at MH events...
