There have been previously released bits and pieces about this, but it looks like the issue is more related to non-coaching issues.

Another classic example of the need for hockey WITHOUT parents.clojacks1 wrote:http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/event/ ... id/261171/

Over exaggerated story (I'm speculating)

Someone else might "speculate" differently.... No dog in this hunt by the way.....mackjogger wrote:Another classic example of the need for hockey WITHOUT parents.clojacks1 wrote:http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/event/ ... id/261171/

Might also offer it as an example of the need for hockey without coaches...ala, rink ratting....

My gosh, profanity in a hockey arena...
I'm on the fence..
There has to be reasonable guidelines to follow and stay inside of.
There are parents and coaches on the far ends of each spectrum.
What's the best solution for the kids?
Probably better and more solid foundations at home, and average or better coaching.
From what I can see inside and away from hockey, we have way too many "part time" parents expecting the "village" to help bring up the kids..
Not gonna happen.

Pick a kid you know, google with the following search "kids name twitter". The profanity and sexual content will blow your door off. "may have resulted in emotional distress and damage to several players" please give me a break as I urinate my pants in laughter.
I would love to hear the real reason they want them canned????

I think the article says they didn't list all the reasons. Sounds like it was a 2 page document that they grabbed a couple of paragraphs from. What kids do on twitter, and what school employees are allowed to do, are 2 entirely different things, wrong as it is....whos_it wrote:pick a kid you know, google with the following search "kids name twitter". My comment was not meant to condone ADULTS swearing, it was laughable that young men suffered "emotional distress" from it. Like I said, I would love to hear the real reason for wanting the termination. I will never buy that the kids were emmotionaley whipped unless the swearing was directed at them. That would be another story.clojacks1 wrote:I think the article says they didn't list all the reasons. Sounds like it was a 2 page document that they grabbed a couple of paragraphs from. Add to that, he represented Mike Randolph when Mike was trying to get his job back about a decade ago. It looks strange from a distance to realize Bob has now placed on both sides of the fence in different circumstances.suntzu wrote:I find it interesting that a former Duluth East hockey parent is representing the Cloquet parents. I'm sure Mr. Mathias is an excellent attorney, just find it interesting. Whatever the outcome, hopefully there is a quick resolution so everyone involved can move forward.

I would like to think Mr. Mathias's only connection is that he has been hired by somebody(s?) in the CEC hockey community to represent their interests. I don't know if we even know if it is someone from Cloquet, or Esko, OR Carlton do we?? Other than that, I'm guessing it is purely coincidental??east hockey wrote:Add to that, he represented Mike Randolph when Mike was trying to get his job back about a decade ago. I have no first hand knowledge of the situation, have "heard" a lot though.
Had the "pleasure" of meeting the father I have been told is at the center of this the other evening, in a watering hole of all places.
After 10 minutes in his company, I was emotionally distressed. He sure uses a lot of words that cannot be typed here.
Find it hard to believe that the coach in question could have said or done anything that would suprise this guy's kid(s).

There are some coaches that are abusive. If you doubt that you are naive. Most parents don't speak up because they feel their child will be punished by the coach for doing so.grandindian wrote:You know this phenomenon is getting out of hand when it is no longer surprising in the least. I love the fact that those making the allegations get to hide behind confidentiality rules. There needs to be some accountability for throwing around insinuations.
Unfortunately, this is going on at 3-4 schools right now. The parents think they can bully people. One school called prominent alumni to get them on their side. One alum asked what specifically he did, they guy said well, a bunch of things. The alum kept pushing and pushing, they parent finally hung up. That is the kind of crap going on and on. Coaching turnover is happening at an alarming rate and there are a lot of good coaches about ready to be done and quit. It's a serious issue in HS Hockey right now that a lot of people don't know about. 3rd and 4th line parents are doing this crap and it needs to stop. HS Hockey will be like South Dakota or Illinois at this rate. Esse is a great coach and has done great things in Cloquet. I spoke with him at length at the tourney and I feel for the guy. It's got to stop with the looney parents!!!!

Well said! You know exactly who the parent is, real winner. What is sad the whole underlying issue is playing time. A lot of people on here know exactly the situation....just fishing is what I assume.Cootslayer wrote:I have no first hand knowledge of the situation, have "heard" a lot though.

Okay, so everyone knows that Esse is the coach involved in this deal, and a lot of people seem to know who the main parent is. Isn't it public information at this point? Why is the main complainant, or for that matter, ALL the complainant's, name not being mentioned? Would the admins object to someone listing those that are known to be involved in the complaint? Lee?? Karl??

Agreed and furthermore, Bob Mathias is nothing but class, for anyone to suggest that his intentions are anything other then representing a client to the best of his ability is irresponsible and slanderous. I am on Esse's side of the argument 100% but I have no time for someone who wants to talk crap about Bob. He is a good and honorable man just doing his job.cooper26 wrote:Regarding all the conjecture about the attorney:
Whether I was this group of parents or Randolph, I would tend to want to find a lawyer that was familiar with the "scene". It only speaks to his professionalism to be able to represent either side of an issue.

Lee, if someone has legitimate information as to who brought this complaint forward, would you as the admin be opposed to them being named?? Seems only fair to me...
