All 2nd year players: 1-14 of the association
3 players moved in from new towns
2 from Stillwater B1 that made it to state last year
1 from Mora A

Based on their record and the teams they chose to play all season they should have played AA. They were playing against a lot of teams of only 1st years or half first years. A lot of the A teams they played were 15-30 of associations.

They should win the region and they could easily win state. But they aren't a Cinderella Story- they have more of a case if they were playing AA

Why don't you give us your thoughts on this team. How well will they do in regionals. I am assuming your either a player, parent or coach of this team since everything you have posted on the board is about Mahtomedi. So give us your insight on this team and how they have done all year.

Well they have done well all year. Dominating the single A class beating wayzata single A. All second years who have been playing together for years. Went to regions together last year and the year before which is rare for mahtomedi. They lost to big names like Grand Rapids, burnsville, beat stillwater once and lost to them once. Tied mounds view and lost to them. They have a solid two lines of defense and a solid two scoring lines. And the goalie Will Swanson is one of the best goalies anyone has seen play at the bantam level this year.

Of all the A teams I've seen play or my kids team played against they were by far the best. They move the puck well and our fast. Stay out of the box against them, they are even harder to catch when you only have 4 skaters :)

Good Luck Mahtomedi, I expect that you will be playing after this weekend.

Mahtomedi also lost to Anoka AA...and I wouldn't be surprised if Mahtomedi ends up State Champions in Bantam "A"...excellent goalie, very good team...certainly a AA level team in terms of skill.

BTW...and this is not mean't as disrespect to STMA and Rochester in any way (because they are simply playing where they were assigned as #1 seeds for District 5 & 9...BUT...a tip of the hat to Burnsville over Tonka, LN over LS, Anoka over Blaine, and Mounds View over WBL...because all EARNED 3rd place in Districts 6, 8, 10 and 2, respectively...when any or all of them... could have tanked their 3rd place games... and advanced to the South Region (St. Cloud) as 4th place finishers...instead Burnsville, LN and Mounds View to East Region and Anoka to West Region.

Did the five end up there because they figured they wouldn't make their association's AA team and didn't want to play two levels down at B-1?

...just stating the facts (and not just relating to my son's team, but 3 other teams as well)...you can characterize my comments any way you want...still doesn't change the facts...Burnsville finshed 3rd in District 6 regular season and 3rd in District 6 tourney: Anoka finished 3rd in District 10 regular season and 3rd in District 10 Tourney; Mounds View was second in District 2 regular season and 2nd in District 2 tourney (sending them to East Region rather than South); not sure regarding District 8 (where LN and LS finished during regular season) but I know one of the LS coaches well enough... to know LS played to beat LN.

And MyKidLovesHockey..you can out the first initial of my last name all you want..but I'm sure you don't have the guts...to reveal the first initial of YOUR LAST NAME...that's what typical of trolls on this message board like YOU...but maybe you will prove me wrong...I doubt it

Thanks Mr. G...You're not a troll after all...I stand corrected.

Since I now know who you really are, I guess I did over-react a bit based based on the wording of you're :P the reaso n is I actually DID dislocate my shoulder playing football in HS...had surgery on it back in 1975...but it has somehow stayed together ever since...despite any and all comments I've made on this Board over the years. :o

STMA...is a good team...(so is LS) the STMA vs. LS will be tight...the winner will have a great chance to advance to State; the loser a tougher time...Blaine and Tonka are also good teams, I expect one of those two to also have a great shot of advancing.

Don't know much about Rochester or WBL...know St. Cloud lost more than half of their PWA team from 2 years ago to the 3 St. Cloud HS's. can't re-call who the 8th team is (Buffalo)?

In any event, best of luck to all South Region teams.
