Good thing we didn't have Hockey Day Minnesota in Duluth it would have been cancelled and you would never of heard the end of that.
Duluth schools are closed tomorrow due to the bitter cold, so tomorrow's East-Flake game will have to be postponed or canceled. There are options for make-up dates; neither team plays again until Saturday, and they both only have one game in the final week of the season. We'll see if Cloquet-Andover is similarly affected.

Andover's twitter account said game is canceled. If cancled that means no makeup. I've heard east is trying to setup for weds due to some scheduling

Cloquet schools are also closed tomorrow, so that game will also have to be made up.

If so, it would have to be on a tape delay. I'm pretty sure the Wild are on at 7.TheHockeyDJ wrote:I hope Benilde-St. Maragaret's and Elk River are a go tonight on FSN. If Elk River wins this game it should for now put them at 3 and Cloquet at 4. Things should get a little clearer after Thursday night.

They probably have moved the HS game to the FSN plus channel then.BodyShots wrote:If so, it would have to be on a tape delay.
Right now:
1. Duluth East
-A win over Flake on Tuesday should clinch the top seed.
2. Grand Rapids
-With the Benilde win, they've done enough outside the section to climb to #2. Yes, those two losses are bad, but they did beat ER, tie Cloquet twice, and lose by one to East.
3/4. Cloquet/Elk River
-This is really a toss-up, and they're near dead-even in most of the computer rankings, too. With CEC tying GR twice and ER losing to GR, there's a decent case to be made for CEC as the #3. If they beat Andover this week, I'd be inclined to put them there. If CEC were to beat East later in the season, they would shoot up to #2, but I don't think they could dislodge the Hounds from the top spot unless East loses to Forest Lake as well. If CEC loses to Andover then Elk River is the clear #3 and CEC is down to 5, and that would probably be how it ends, even if CEC beats East in a few weeks.
5. Andover
-Beating Cloquet would lift them to #4, and probably lock them in there.
6. Forest Lake
-A win over East would get them to #5, but probably no higher. Even if they lose to East and Andover can't get a win of any magnitude down the stretch, they'd have a decent case for #5, given their somewhat better record and the win over GR.
7. St. Francis
-Locked in here with comfortable wins over STMA and Cambridge
8. STMA
-Beat Cambridge this past week, which should secure them home ice in the play-in game.
9. Cambridge
Play-in game should be a closer game though, Cambridge had their backup goaltender in net for last week's game.

Eh, yes and no. Forest Lake did a good job of keeping it fairly close, and did carry play for a decent chunk of the first period. They certainly could give the top teams a good run for their money in sections. But as an East fan I never really thought the Hounds were in much danger, even when the lead was down to one. Even though the Hounds did not look like a top ten team tonight, they were in control for most of the game, even with (arguably) their most talented player getting a game misconduct that resulted in a major penalty.MNhockey29 wrote:Forest Lake/East game i thought was a very even game. Forest Lake could of won this game, their goalie was playing great. But it was stupid defensive mistakes that cost them the game. This will ne a good section game if they play in Amsoil.
The biggest positive for East was the scoring balance, with 3 of the 4 non-EN goals coming from lower lines. They need that sort of production when the top line has a quiet night. Also, Sjerven got the start in goal tonight, and played pretty well. We'll see if they stick with him against Maple Grove on Saturday.
One final note: this was a milestone win for the East program. The victory guarantees a 60th consecutive winning season for the Hounds.

That is remarkable consistency. Karl, do you have a giant encyclopedia on East hockey history?! Pretty nuts that you know that.karl(east) wrote:Eh, yes and no.
