lakeville north bantum aa got rid of there team captions because one of the parents thought the process was unfair. The kids pick who they want to represent them. What do you think.

Here is one example ... one of the kids on the team was a bullying other kids at beginning of the season, so the coach now made him a captain!

Life isn't fair, deal with it!!! It is the coaches decision on how the Captains are picked. Now I would never have a kid who is or has been a bully be a Captain, but that would be my call. Just another example of parents making the decisions and not the coaches. If the parents don't like the way the coach decided on captains, voice your opinion for NEXT year. Everybody can be an armchair coach, but could you really do better. Let them do their job and sit back and Cheer Positively.... It is not always going to go the way you or little Johnny want it to go. Captains Are Leaders...

At the Bantam level kids are definitely old enough to know who the leaders are and who they want leading them. Seems a fien way to do things as long as the coach monitors and also aproves of the pick. As there are rare occasions where kids at this age choose someone for the "wrong" reasons, but most often it works. This is how we picked our captains in high school and our coaches always said they felt we got it "right" and in hindsight as an adult looking back I think we got it right as well (and no I was not a captain)
