Edina Peewee AA Tourney Preview
Just posted a preview on Edina's Peewee AA tourney. It can be read at:

Edina PWAA tournament
Did you really predict Edina would lose to OMG... I do love the fact that there is someone likle Fred out there who is so involved in youth hockey and keeps the conversation moving. Kudos to Freddy for that. But that is a BOLD prediction! Not unlike the guy (who has dropped off the board here...) who predicted Duluth East was the top team in the State. I agree with Freddie that the Edina A team would be a good addition to the AA tournament. It would have been fun to see how they would do against some of the better AA teams in the state. I'm afraid for my Panthers in this one...

For the state tournament? Why would they ever do that? Invitationals I can see, but the state tournament is not for out of state teams.JSR wrote:I wish they'd allow out of state Tier 1 AAA teams into their MN AA tournament... I have no idea what Freddie is talking about anymore. "Edina struggled to find 12 top AA teams"???? Edina, ER, LN, LS OMG, EP, Wayzata, etc... All perenial top PW programs - maybe not all having dominant years, but who were they supposed to invite? Both the A and B1 divisions are very strong. This tournament never disappoints with regard to getting top level competition.
What is the thread title....... I was talking about Edina's Invitational tourney.... I thought that was implied by the title of the thread and I wouldn't need to clarifyBluewhitefan wrote:For the state tournament? Why would they ever do that? You said "their MN tournament" MN implies a state tournament. And by the way JSR, sometimes people actually go off topic, so the topic thread isn't always meaningful. Plenty of good teams in the tournament without inviting AAA teams.JSR wrote:What is the thread title....... I was talking about Edina's Invitational tourney.... What was your first post like?Goal_Judge wrote:Kudos to the prediction about Edina PW AA losing during this tournament. Their time is done. It's over. I'm sick and tired of hearing about what a great hockey team Edina PW AA has. Screw 'em. This is [Lakeville's, OMG's, Centennial's, Elk River's, Tonka's, etc.] time. Now go out there and take it!
Wrong.. first of all "MN AA" implies the classification of the teams involved in the invitational tournament (again see OP for reference) not a state tournament, it's necessary to say "MN AA" and not just "AA" because "AA" means somethig different outside of the MN state boundaries..... and the thread is about Edina hence when I said "they'd" and "their" it's pretty obvious I was talking about Edina, as in Edina's MN AA tournament... yes people go off topic sometimes but it's usually pretty evident and spelled out. Wouldn't it have just been easier for you to just say "oh, misunderstood you, sorry about that, I get it now", instead of trying to argue and make yourself "look right", inferiority complex much....Bluewhitefan wrote:You said "their MN tournament" MN implies a state tournament. I'm so glad you took time out of your busy day to lecture me. Very insightful post jerk. I do get it now - Edina should invite some AAA teams to an already fine tournament so that your little brat can play against the best and not waste your time playing the horrible competition MN has to offer. Feel free to crawl back into your cocktail.JSR wrote: Wrong.. first of all "MN AA" implies the classification of the teams involved in the invitational tournament (again see OP for reference) not a state tournament, it's necessary to say "MN AA" and not just "AA" because "AA" means somethig different outside of the MN state boundaries..... and the thread is about Edina hence when I said "they'd" and "their" it's pretty obvious I was talking about Edina, as in Edina's MN AA tournament... yes people go off topic sometimes but it's usually pretty evident and spelled out. Is it really necessary to point out that you are talking about MN AA vs outside of MN AA when you are on a message board dedicated to MINNESOTA youth hockey?JSR wrote:Wrong.. first of all "MN AA" implies the classification of the teams involved in the invitational tournament (again see OP for reference) not a state tournament, it's necessary to say "MN AA" and not just "AA" because "AA" means somethig different outside of the MN state boundaries..... and the thread is about Edina hence when I said "they'd" and "their" it's pretty obvious I was talking about Edina, as in Edina's MN AA tournament... yes people go off topic sometimes but it's usually pretty evident and spelled out. They allow it. I stayed in the Marriott with the kids from Colorado Thunderbirds a few years ago and a friend's son played with the TPH Thunder a year or two before that.JSR wrote:I wish they'd allow out of state Tier 1 AAA teams into their MN AA tournament... Why do you say they don't?

Just posted an update from Monday morning's games. It can be read at:

Typical response I would expect from the uneducated rubes of the world.... I'm not from MN, don't live in MN and my son doesn't play in or for any MN teams. But you keep it classy there.....Bluewhitefan wrote:I'm so glad you took time out of your busy day to lecture me. Very insightful post jerk. One of my kids teams (Tier 1 AAA team) tried to schedule a game with Edina's A team and were told by their coach that their district didn't allow them to play Tier 1 AAA teams.O-townClown wrote:They allow it. Why do you say they don't?
MN teams against Tier 1 teams
I believe that is at least partially incorrect. MN Hockey dictates who you can and can't play. According to their bylaws, you can play any team that is registered with USA Hockey and is not an "outlawed" team by MN Hockey - provided they play at your level. Pee Wee's at the national level are either Major (2000 birth year this year) or Minor (2001 this year). The "Tier" level of the team is of no significance as to whether our teams can play them - from a MN Hockey standpoint. Tier 2 AA teams are generally the teams that play in our tournaments if they play here (the 2000 Oklahoma and 2000 Colorado teams this year played in the Edina Pee Wee A tournament and are both 2000 Tier 2 AA teams). I know there was a 2000 Tier 1 AAA team from Thunder Bay up at the Duluth Pee Wee AA Tournament this year. Now District 6 may have some strange bylaw that says that a Pee Wee A team can only play a Tier 2 AA team (as in Edina Tournament), but a Pee Wee AA team can play a Tier 1 AAA team (as in Duluth). I think if a team wanted to challenge that, they could.JSR wrote:One of my kids teams (Tier 1 AAA team) tried to schedule a game with Edina's A team and were told by their coach that their district didn't allow them to play Tier 1 AAA teams.O-townClown wrote:They allow it. So you thought there was a D6 rule that prevented Edina or any other team from playing a Tier I team?JSR wrote:One of my kids teams (Tier 1 AAA team) tried to schedule a game with Edina's A team and were told by their coach that their district didn't allow them to play Tier 1 AAA teams.
Sorry, but I think he must have just been trying to politely decline the offer.
Edina Bantams regularly play Shattuck and about two years ago played a team from Dallas to start their season. Also, Edina Pee Wees faced (and demolished) the Wisconsin Fire two years ago.
Maybe it is a new rule. ?
