Your comment at the end of the article that the Edina White (A) team might be the best Edina Peewee team at the end of the year is absurd. They are very good, and at least one of their players would be a stud on most AA teams, but there is no way that they can get close to the undefeated AA team.

Edina should have gone with two upper level teams. Either two AA's , two A's, or two B1's. I'm pretty sure they will next year.

There are two answers to the question, “which is the better team, Edina AA or Edina A”? that I can think of.

The first answer is sort of simple, wait until the season is over. The problem with that is D6 separated the AA and A teams into two leagues AA and A. Black never plays White.

The Edina Association put the AA team in all the “tough tourneys” (Eden Prairie, White Bear Lake, Spirit of Duluth, and Roseau), and kept the A team out thus denying the White team the opportunity to find tougher competition.

The White team ended up at Hopkins, Woodbury, and New Ulm. Both teams are in their own tourney at the Edina Invitational.

The Black gets tested with better competition and White’s been locked out by the notion that the White team has to play an A schedule. Jefferson is one of the few teams that both teams have played.

The second answer is that we are talking about a team and team play. After watching both teams play, I believe that Edina White or A has the most room to improve and have a core second year kids to build on.

Edina Black or AA came into this season in top form and have been sailing along. At some point in the season things change; that is kids growing and right now I see the improvement in the Edina White.

One final note on the Edina teams, for the past three years, the Edina peewees have played an average of around 65 games a year. This year, because of the splits, both Edina teams will need to go to state to have a chance to break 55 games played. That may have a bigger impact than anything else on the players on both teams.

The Edina AA team simply has much better players. Both teams are well coached, but there is a limit to what coaching can do. To suggest otherwise is odd. I would guess that in a 10 game series the AA team would win 9 .

What I'm waiting to see is who is going to knock off the AA team?
