Good luck with that pick. Holtby can only carry them so far. In all honesty, I don't mind Boston. I enjoy their style of play. It's been a great series though.
Thankfully Vancouver was eliminated by LA. I'm not a fan of most of their players, but I dislike their fans even more. They riot their own town and they cry more than some posters on this forum (hard to believe). Of course, after Stoll ended the game and the series, I saw trash being thrown on the ice. Stay classy, Vancouver...
Now that my Wings are out of it, I don't have a particular team to cheer for, which is fine. There is still a lot of great playoff hockey to watch.
Yeah, I can appreciate Boston's style of play. I just dislike anything involving sports and the city of Boston.
I'm happy to see Vancouver go, too...barring a miracle run by Ottawa, it looks like the Canadian drought will continue. I'm not complaining, though I do think the sport is a bit more exciting when teams with more tradition like Toronto and Montreal of Edmonton are competing for titles, instead of teams like Nashville or Florida or Phoenix.

But in my opinion, the Wings priorities should be toward acquiring Suter. They need to fill the huge gap Lidstrom left. But if they can get Parise, they'll have arguably one of the best offenses in the League.
Sweet Lou speaks with Chuck Fletcher often so his inside information is credible. If Parise joins the Mild, its a great pick up. However, their club is still a few player moves and years away from playoff contention.

Yeah, Parise wouldn't cure all of the Wild's ills, but it would be a big step in the right direction--something the franchise could use. Doesn't hurt that he's a hometown kid, too.
Parise definitely doesn't fill the Wings' biggest need, but there is something to be said for going out and splurging on the best player available on the market instead of focusing too intently on specific holes. When teams do that, they can start to overpay or fixate on certain players...

Indeed. Many people say the Wings overpay and fixate like what you have mentioned; however, their 21 straight seasons making the playoffs proves they make the right decisions.

Yeah, it's a similar story with the Yankees--of course they don't have the salary cap to deal with, but the biggest flops tend not to be the stars, but instead the second-tier supporting players brought in to fill supposed "needs."

I'm not too interested in soccer. Never played it besides at recess in elementary school. I'm in my golf mode right now. Fall/Winter seasons its all hockey and Spring/Summer its golf. But of course, I watch baseball in October as well.
Just this past week I sat on my butt and watched the U.S. Open. Great entertainment!

I was sort of amused by the non-local media coverage of the flood. Homes are flooding, cars are falling into sinkholes, kids are getting washed down culverts...eh. But the seals escaping the zoo? The horror!
My favorite was the BBC video that did not mention any effects of the flooding beyond the zoo and pronounced Duluth "Dullith."

To my surprise, I have heard Duluth pronounced "Dullith" on a local metro news station before. I suspect the reporter was from outside of MN, but come on!
As for the animals, I give my sympathies to the ones that were transferred to the Como Zoo.

Mitt had better zingers on the 3rd, but considering the content, I feel entitled to respond.
Nobody's making the playoffs this year, DrGraf. Not D-Twa, not Suter/Parise & Co., no one. 99 says the season will start-up in Jan, but the owners and the NHLPA are waay too far from common ground. Its looking like a 04-05 season (silent).
And my one/three will be around for more years to come. He's still the best defensive forward in the game (IMHO). Plus, he still produces. EA Sports is flawed.
