How did the 4 MN Teams do this year at NAHA Tournament?

Whitecaps Black U19 were 6-1 and lost 1-0 in the Championship to Assabet.

Whitecaps White U19 were 5-1 and also had a single loss to Assabet in their 1st game.

Icecats U19 were 2-2 from what is recorded.

team Kobeer (Reebok backwards) 16's were also 4-2. Starzz show 1-2-1

Wow so MN had 6 Teams out to NAHA - 2 U16 and 4 U19? This is one of the few opportunities for MN's top players to face off with top Canadian and US Teams. It would be great if MN Hockey would allow a Team from the Elite League to compete for the National Title at the U19 level.

They did a couple of years ago when walser and another did a before and after schedule. When it came time to play to go to the nationals both teams were 0-2 against the thoroughbreds and Shattuck with Shattuck going.Both teams had a lot of individual talent and a lot of ego driven parents. Their main problem was they could not play as a team and the pace and different style tired them out. Yes I was at the games and yes the parents ego's were out of this world,it was everybody else's fault their stars could not win.

Yes that was pre Elite League (starting 5th year) so about 6-7 years ago.

So it looks like Minnesota teams did 24-10-3. Icecats 19's 3-3-0 and Northern Starzz 2-3-1

Excellent hockey. Whitecap Black team won a semifinal game 2-1 shootout game against a Buffalo Bisons team that beat Assabet. They were trailing 1-0 with 1:50 seconds left, pulled the goalie and scored with about 50 seconds left. Shootout was 1 goal for W/Caps and 3 out of 3 saves.
Whitecaps teams allowed 11 goals in 13 games. 3 of them in the 1st period of the 1st game against Assabet. After that they all played extremely well.

Most of the players for the Whitecaps could of played at the 16U level by age. They were 28-juniors and 4-10th graders for this upcoming season and brought no players that have committed to college teams. 10 players were 95's (9 on Black team) and the rest were 96's or 97's between the two teams.
Assabet team that beat both teams. Had 4 post graduate players, 9 seniors and 5 juniors. Assabet was the Defending Nationals at all levels last season.

Icecat 16's beat Assabet for Championship and tied them in pool play at the 16's level.

Winny Brodt's Whitecaps program goes 11-2 with both losses to Assabet (defending National Champs). Icecats go 8-3-2 with the Championship at the 16 level

Great showing by our Minnesota girls, especially considering how young the teams were! I'm sure their fine play got a lot of attention from the college coaches in attendance, and we'll soon be hearing about some additional verbal commitments.

I remember watching the games for the Before & After teams sponsored by Walser, etc. a number of years ago. I want to say that was around 2006-7 or so.

What stuck out was that T-Breds & Shattuck had a distinct advantage for one major reason - they had played together every game all year long.

To me, that alone was the difference. The B&A girls were extremely talented but when you don't play 40+ games together over many months it's tough to come in and beat teams that have been doing so no matter how much talent you put on the rink.

Kobeer is Reebok backwards but it was not Team Reebok. Only 7 skaters and a goalie from that team. Spot was filled with 5 east coast girls a Northern Starzz girl and a O's girl. Needed to fill spot for a Pittsburgh team that dropped. I had fun coaching them it was a blast! Lost 2-1 to Assabet and also to Ice Cats. Props out to Minnesota teams. Watched a lot of hockey and O's and Winny's teams rocked and had 2 teams play as well as anyone! Seen 4 out 6 of the Ice Cats 16's games and they played great team hockey and with a ton of intensity and deserved to win it!

Fyi...to a couple of comments on this blog. Minnesota teams would be fine in Nationals if they could play together..not all good hockey players are selfish and not all hockey parents are asses.

There is a reason no team other than a WCHA team has won the National Championship ever! They recruit Minnesota girls.
