We are building a public database/rankings system this year for all of the levels we cover (Girls U10A, U12A, and U14A - SQB to Bantam A for Boys).
The formula we use is really important to the quality of our Rankings each week. Here are some of the factors to our formula. Just curious to find out what you guys think are important?
Head to Head Competition/Strength of Schedule
Recency (current games value higher than games in October)
Goal Differential
Value on Tournament Wins, League Wins, Non League Wins
Home Ice/Neutral Ice
NOTE: we will not be using public opinion this year as part of our formula.
Your thoughts?

For you math nerds out there.
We have been experimenting with a lot of different formulas for next year's rankings.
As we add recency to the formula, the more "off" the rankings got (a team with a 5 game win streak way outperformed a more consistent team).
We are also playing with what the max number should be for goal differential. With no max some outstate teams (e.g. Moorhead in Bantam A) really climb the ladder fast. With a 5 goal max (versus MY Hockey max of 7), no major changes were seen.
We are hoping to have our formula all set by early September, in time for tryouts to begin.
