National Sports Center retains Scott Steffen as Miracle Gold hockey coach and trainer
BLAINE, Minn. (August 29, 2012) – The National Sports Center has retained well-known hockey coach and trainer Scott Steffen as a coach to work with teams in the NSC’s Miracle Gold AAA hockey program. Steffen, of White Bear Lake, will direct Miracle Gold’s 2004 team and be the Lead Instructor for various Miracle Gold training and development programs.
Steffen was the head men’s hockey coach at Hamline University in 2011-2012. Prior to that he was the head strength and conditioning coach for the Hill-Murray High School boys’ hockey team from 2001-2011. During his playing days at Hamline University, he was a two-year team captain and a three-time All-MIAC selection.
In his career as a youth coach and trainer, Steffen has coached teams to championships at some of the highest level tournaments in AAA hockey including the North American Classic, USHL Young Guns, Chi-Town Shuffle, Chicago Friendship Tournament, Chicago Cougar Classic and the Fargo Pepsi Cup.
“As someone who has a long-time commitment to solid development in youth hockey, I am thrilled to be working in the Miracle Gold program,” said Steffen. “I’m also looking forward to utilizing the resources available at the National Sports Center to enhance my coaching, including the Herb Brooks Training Center.”
