Bernie's Ship is Sinking
Ouch! Bernie's beloved '02 team lost two games in 24 hours to the Blades this past weekend. Orange Sherbert was outscored 8-3 and were beat and beat up by who MoWanchuk calls, "Team Tiny Dancers." Sherbert's record against their cross town rivals was a whopping 0-3 this season. Team has more holes than Bernie's socks.
Top (3) 2003 Machine players just left team and went to a competitor.
2004 Machine team coached by Bernie's "protege" got NONE of the top kids and will be lucky to play at open level next year.
Choice program's numbers are down and talent is diluted. To improve revenue, Bernard will be selling replica jerseys of 88's for $88. Get yours today while supplies last. Auf Wiedersehen!

I wasn't suggesting the sky was falling. I was simply pointing out his program isn't what it used to be and frankly it isn't close. He's not getting the best players and the ones he does get, he is doing less with than he used to. The youth is the future and he is failing at connecting with those families. Bis Spater!
Thanks Dex! After seeing the Blades parents whining for every minor infraction and body nudge, this is not too surprising to here from the Smug whiners. Nothing that is more insufferable than having a coach "work" the refs for a whole game...a game of 10 year olds. Whatta professional organization. Keep up the good work for MN hockey by bringing in goalies from St. Louis to beat the 'lil 'ol orange sherberts and developing (cough, showcasing) those dairy boys from 'Sconie. Because it really is about finding the most talented 8,9,10 year olds around because they'll always stay that way.

Shouldn't the 02 blades beat the 02 Machine, since the 02 blades were team minnesota and played at the brick. Plus with these summer teams how many kids played in all 3 games for the same team.
The choice league is watered down because they expanded the number of teams and the younger Machine teams play up at squirts vs Gold.
The reality is who cares who won, isnt Summer hockey about development? Shouldnt you pick the team that will develop your kid the most and not where they will win the most games.

I have no fish to fry with this topic, but I will point out that 02s and 03s are 10 and 9 years old (yes, I can do the math!), and consistency is not something you usually associate with kids that age.
The 01s are a really solid group that can play with anyone in North America (though they just lost a one-goal game to an ersatz Blades team -- weirdly a Pitlick selects group not called the Blades-- in the Caribou chip) and the 00s are probably the best hockey team of that age group anywhere, any season. As good as the 88s? Could be.
Again, I personally don't care that much one way or the other. But the sky looks like its falling when you're only looking at a few clouds, and you're rooting against them.

AAA is clearly about winning and development is secondary. Thats a fact. At least with the top teams/ organizations. Teams bringing kids in just to WIN. Kids dedicated to the programs on the bench or their ice time shorten. Teams shortening the bench just to win. Thats not development. If it was, teams would run three lines the whole game and would play with the team they started with at the beginning.savagegopher wrote:Shouldn't the 02 blades beat the 02 Machine, since the 02 blades were team minnesota and played at the brick. So much effort is put into winning at age ten, and fact of the matter is, no will remember who won the caribou cup two years from know. Heck when the kids are in highschool they wont even remember what tournys they won in 2012. But boy is it important to the coaches now.

Spehar 33, I understand you want to get this thread locked down (by throwing out nicknames) because your feelings are hurt and you don't like anyone to dare say anything bad about your beloved Bernard. However, your stab at wrapping coaches into this is once again off base. Keep trying it though for deflection purposes. My question for you is did you actually watch either game? Now this is really gonna get good. . .
Sounds like some poor coaching. Coaches should rarely speak with the refs, at all. And, they certainly shouldn't yell particularly at this age. It's entirely the wrong way to show leadership. The kids pick up on the fussing and start to do it themselves and respect for the team, and coaching, shrivels immediately. Coach your team and keep your mouth shut. Teach the kids to work hard and keep their mouths shut as well. Remember, the refs can call whatever they want. They're in charge and you're not. Coaches that think yelling at the refs will benefit their team likely have little experience and have a lot to learn. You want respect then show respect.

Machine Cult, goalie isn't from St. Louis. And spehar must have been fantasizing about riding in Bernie's plane. That is the only explanation for his game recap. Penalties were significantly in favor of Orange aka Mpls cop's old team b4 Macbain. Watch the games OR speak to someone who did OR stay quiet. I guess ignorance is bliss in your world.
