I thought the pre puberty is critical age for development line was funny. Just because it's imperative for his business that he convinces parents that Johnny super star needs to skate hundreds of hours a year at a young age.

How does he explain the kids who don't skate a ton at a young age or the kids who start at a later age that bypass Johnny super star by bantams. Cuz it happens frequently.

C J franklin from FL just went like 10th [out of Mn kids] in the USHL draft. Never played summer hockey. All conf. Baseball/Football. I agree "Business is Business" so I understand why he says $hit like that.

Easy. He'll say that they lacked either size, strength, skill, speed, or hockey sense. Maybe more than one.

There is a little bit of double-talk in the message. "Great hockey players are MADE" implies that everything can be taught or forced. Then he says they look for 5 traits or characteristics, some of which can be nurtured but ultimately are somewhat innate.

While he's looking for those five, I'll continue to value work ethic and toughness. Did they get left out because those words don't start with S? (Or is it because there are a lot of candy-ass kids in his target demographic!)
Be kind. Rewind.

My kid plays a lot of hockey, but it's because he wants too. Not because it's critical for his development. I m not a mn made hater. If u like it there, skate there. If u don't like it there, then go elsewhere.

Can anyone tell me whether Bernie has ever coached at the high school level or higher? It appears that his coaching experience stops at about age 12 when most of those teams seem to disband for whatever reason. Credit needs to be given to him for running a successful business--I just never see anyone give any history for him when these articles are written, and I don't believe there is anything in the website. I am not looking for anyone to be critical but just a factual background if anyone knows.

Solely because he wasn't properly trained.
