No doubt HM's speed has been a big issue for MG. They haven't played a top ten team since mid-January; maybe that's part of it. But as is the case so often this time of year, Hill looks great. Sharp passing by all three lines, and the defensemen, though not the most talented bunch, are positioning themselves very well.Sats81 wrote:BodyShots wrote:This is my first time seeing MG. Agreed. Nervous too.
Welcome to the big stage, Crimson. We'll see if they have a response...

I've said this for the last few seasons. Hill looks great so far today, Lex had a gameplan and it shows. Hill is dominating every aspect of the game, an MG is lucky this isnt 6 or 7 to 1. MG started to get really choppy at the end and they better fix that or this will be in running time. LET'S GO PIONEERS!Sats81 wrote:Anyone wanna argue with me now on Lechner being the best HS coach in the state? Said this in a post about a month ago...

He is. More like a well oiled machine this team is. I've never ever seen anything like this in my years of watching hockey. Textbook coaching. Another speedster in Sampair too. That delay dangle in front of the MG net was world class!Sats81 wrote:Anyone wanna argue with me now on Lechner being the best HS coach in the state? Said this in a post about a month ago...
I can splash in the rink puddles!
Not getting cocky. Actually picked MG to win this game. Hill is absolutely dominating every aspect of this game though. Don't think MG has much of a chance to get back in this one.Bleed Maroon and Gold wrote:I wouldn't get to cocky early its still only the second period anything can happenSats81 wrote:See you at mariucci MG.

That was a sick move! Hill is playing super physical, their forechecking has set the tone and their d zone transition and neutral zone play has been textbook.

True. However, it's going to take Maple Grove to make plays. HM isn't going to beat themselves here. That's what makes this a tough task. HM-Edina 2008 3rd period is coming to mind here right now.Bleed Maroon and Gold wrote:

What I find unbelieveable about HM is that it seems like they struggle so much during sections, whether it's to get by WBL or anybody else, usually winning by a goal or so, but then it's like they take it to another level when they get to the X. They may not win it, but they don't go down easy are all on the same page.
that was an unbelievable play. If he would have scored, wow, the x would have erupted. (well maybe notNostalgic Nerd wrote:He is. More like a well oiled machine this team is. State ‘83, ‘91, ‘08, ‘20
I saw hits less than that get 5 minute boarding calls in sections. I don't think that hit was a penalty but seen less called. If safety is the issue that should have been a penalty. That hit happens to BSM it's a penalty I guarantee it.sachishi4 wrote:shoulder to chest, why a penalty? The guy also had the puckgoldy313 wrote:No 5 minute major?

Two teams I love to avoid at the tournament: Edina and HM. Both have such good coaching staffs that their kids are always ready to play. High school athletes can be mentally weak but a great coaching staff can turn that all around. What a solid all around effort by HM after that first goal. The 3rd should be a fun one.
