Yup. A #1 seed that hasn't been able to beat the Mustangs or the Evil All Dude Empire in years.......Looks easy from here wrote:maybe you haven't herd Hermantown is the # 1 seed not STAHawkeyPower wrote:Don't know if STA winning would be considered a upset.

The winner of the STA/Breck game wins state!
thats because neither of those teams got to play the 2007 team...Goldy23 wrote:Yup. I agree; it was total madness & all hell broke loose when undefeated Hutchinson went down in the 1995 quarterfinals.EHSHack wrote:I think any game in which an undefeated team loses at State is considered an upset.

All kidding aside, I do think there comes a point when it's not that huge of an upset. I wasn't shocked when Little Falls got throttled by Breck in 2009. I wasn't shocked when Roseau got throttled by Hill-Murray & Benilde in 2008.
Hermantown can win the title without a doubt, but I won't be shocked if STA or Breck beat them...anybody else, I'd call it quite an upset.

There is a team in the tourney that can beat Hermantown quite badly. We have not seen them since early in the season and everybody has pretty well quit talking about them but they are still there lurking in the shadows waiting to strike. It is the team that kept many games with them close early on in the season and that would probably have ended their unbeaten streak had they been playing anybody at the time.
The team???
Hermantown............... the Hermantown team that picked up those dumb, behind the play penalties. That team that would give you a quick shot on the way past just to make a point. Remember, all of those penalties early on in the season were Pre-Jablonski penalties which means that a number of them in today's "market" could result in a major penalty rather than that quick to kill off 2 minute one. I am not saying that Hermantown is a cheap shot sort of team, they are not, but they also will not hesitate to go "there" with you, which might result in somebody like STA or Breck getting one of those long 5 minute major penalties to do some work and maybe pick up a goal or two. I would assume that the coaching staff has had a few heart to heart talks with them and has pointed out the obvious but ........................
Assuming that they don't go down that route I don't think they will lose again until next year sometime when they bump into some AA school or something like that.

I totally agree,I think Thief river will give hermantown a good game. Thief river only lost to them 3-1 in their last meeting early on in the season, and with this being their first back to back showings at state for quite some time, I think the prowlers will come out and make yet another BIG statement,it should be a good quarter final matchup,I think it is too difficult to stay unbeaten with all the great talent this tourney has to offer!! Good luck to all teams...may the best team win!!defense wrote:I think that if Hermantown is to lose, it will be in round #2. That team from up northwest sure showed some stuff last year, and I'm thinking that maybe with a year under their belts......
