sorry bud but the 07 hawks were the real deal, and they would hands down beat this years team too, they were solid everywhere and that includes having a goalie that was actually talented and didn't have to have his defense do all the work, oh ya and they had to play real competition, but btw tonight's game was a freaking joke, section 5a was the biggest cake walk hermantown could have, would've thought rogers would have put up some sort of a fight instead of rolling over dead in the first 2 minutes of the game, been to two games this week and both have been lopsided this wasn't any better,
in the end congrats for the hawks on their return to state, probably will end up as #1 seed as they are undefeated, i can see breck or sta as 2 and 3 then idk who will be 4

Ok I was not at the game but a buddy of mine was and your description of Rogers rolling over in the 1st 2 minutes of the game does not fit the description of his version of the game. Your description doesnt even fit what was streamed on the hub. For some reason you and northhcky have misconstrued my statements or are completely incompetent to understand when someone wants to give the other team a compliment. I never bashed H-town, all I tried to do is give Rogers their props for their accomplishments in a short period of time as a program. As far as a weak section, maybe you should look at the section final games from this year. MG15 Blaine 1. There were very few close section final games.

As far as you saying "my beloved Hermantown" you know nothing. I do not live in Hermantown...have no boys playing hockey in Hermantown so have no dog in the fight. But being a lifelong hockey fan i have the utmost amount of respect for a small town with no open enrollment that develops hometown kids into a winning team year after year that can compete with anyone in the state whether it be a AA team or one of the privates. Period.

Did I ever say I did not respect H-town's accomplishments? I know they have an excellent program up there I have had to see them end Rogers season the last 3 years. Now come to say i know nothing is a little harsh isn't it.
I have zero kids in the Rogers program so I have no dog in the fight either except it is my home town team.

Have to completely agree especially about the competition level of other teams in 07 compared to this year.
Marshall had argueably their best ever team. Regular season 1-1 tie with the Hawks and had losses to St Cloud Cathedral and Cloquet.
Cloquet had a very good team and a great goalie and won the LSC.
St Cloud was very good handing Marshall one of their 4 losses.
Little falls also had argueably their best team ever with the Festler line having over 300 pts in the regular season and they lost to virginia 7-3
Virginia was very good...they took the Hawks into OT with the Hawks pulling it out 4-3
Hibbing was very good and they also took the Hawks to OT with the Hawks winning 6-5 and Hibbing beat Waroad 5-1 and Warroad had a very good team losing to the Hawks in the state semi's by a goal.
I Falls had a good team with a great goalie.
And Redwing was also very good with 1 goal losses to both St Thomas and Hermantown and beating the 5A champs Blake 4-1
Just a few comparisons and like i said i totally agree that the level of competition that this years Hawks have faced is nowhere near the level of competition the 07 team faced. Other than St Thomas IMHO a majority of these teams are nowhere near what they were in 07. For sure not for the north country. Lots of D1 players on those teams i mentioned.

there are only 2 real teams that i think can knock off hermantown that are in the tournament, sadly they will be in the other half of the bracket and will have to go the distance before we get to see hermantown actually get challenged for the first time year, im proud of them for going undefeated but the if you look up and down their schedule, there's just no really impressive win that stands out to you, ya they beat totino grace super early in the year, also the win over rapids was a solid win, but rapids was down this year, marshall was an ok win too along with little falls and thief but they weren't outstanding games that make you go, "wow, this team really is the real deal", now if you look at their playoff run, 11-1 moose lake, 7-0??? proctor, and now 4-0 rogers, none of these games had a team that could skate with them or that would get up in their faces and make them work for the win, and again i will say that rogers did role over and died on the ice in the championship game, they looked nervous and never came out to play as the hawks got the early jump and never looked back, ya they got 20+ shots, but none of them were hard or challenging shots, all you got to do with this hermantown team is get in their face and constantly pressure them, superior did this and should've won if they didn't have the epic collapse with a minute thirty left in the third, long story short play very physical, don't give them any time to breath, and shoot the dang puck on their goalie, thats how you beat hermantown as they will be more worried about their hair than anything else down at state

I don't think the game was ever in doubt from when the puck was picked up to be dropped by the ref for the first time at center ice. Rogers was respectable and played a good game against an opponent who was head and shoulders above them.

A couple of side notes though, first off that arena should never ever ever be used again for something like that. The capacity is too low with people getting turned away, the blind spots and bad angle sight lines are the worst I have ever seen for any arena, rink, basketball court or etc anyplace at anytime. It is a good rink for a game that is not going to draw a crowd but for something like game it is horrible. IF the powers that be are reading this blog, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE never send a game like that there again, thank you. Between the fact that the ice was still wet in the third period for a large part of it and the fact that the seating (what little there is) blocks all of the action by the boards it is not a good facility. Looks pretty but totally non-functional.

A few of us needed to find a place to watch the game from so we drifted around a bit. Drifted past the student section on the Hermantown end and drifted on when the band started to play. Good band but so loud the people that I was there with and I couldn't compare notes. Tried standing in the 4th standing row back from the side and quickly realized that looking across the rink at the people on the other side was not what we had paid $7 to do. Wanted to stand over above the benches and that area and decided to honor the police tape and signs that said it was off limits. Will have to go back there sometime as I bet that is a fun place to watch a game from. Drifted down towards the end with the Rogers kids in it. Side note to the arena people here.......... you need to send more people than one over weight old man down there next time to get them to sit down. That end was blocked for view. On the positive side though it flash me back to my youthful days when I was enjoying my summer camp with that nice man who told me that he was my mommy and my daddy and that if I didn't get my aahhhh, well, act cleaned up a bit he was gonna be the guy to bury my sorry butt (cleaned up also). Every time that some of that group opened their mouths I had this over whelming urge to drop and start doing pushups...... seriously, who (other than a drill instructor) talks like that????? Wow. Not inditing Rogers as a whole, not slamming their kids in general, not slamming their fans or anything like that but really, there was a select minority of kids there who need to take a look around and realize that people make judgements about you when you open your mouth and say stuff like that. Maybe the same can be said for the kids from Hermantown but they were smart enough to bring a band along to drown out the words, I don't know.

Hermantown is not going to get beat again until next year sometime when they run into a AA school someplace down the road. They are not that good, they are not even great, they are better than that all added up. No, I do not have a kid playing for them so this is not some sort of warm fuzzy feelings sort of deal for my kid's team. Yes, I have seen them a couple of times but also must confess to having seen quite a bit of hockey involving lots of other A and AA teams this year and nobody (other than Duluth East with Parker in the net) even comes close to them.

First, I really like the Heritage Center. With that said, I agree that there is no way they should have had a section final there. CARC was a much better venue.

You are absoultely amazing with your version of the game, I can not stand it when a game is not a 1 goal game that people say it was not even close they didnt belong on the ice with them. I have spoke to several people that were there and also saw comments from hockey hub and your version seems to be fantasy.I do not believe the hockey hub guy put comments in there on behalf of Rogers just to make them feel better. You really do not need to make things look better than they are for H-town they are undefeated and headed to state, why not try to give other hockey programs some credit rather than acting as if this is the greatest assembled team ever and no matter what era they would clean house. H-town has not had a challenge this year, really how is being shut out for two periods against Rogers not a challenge. Was Hermantown just toying with them and saying ha ha you think you are going to win. Did H-town say hey let's only beat them by a goal along with the Cathedral game, I don't think so. Yes they had a few more gears which is obvious and more depth in the playoffs, but to say they have not been challenged all year is just an inaccurate statement.
I would say if a team never has a challenge then everyone of their games should be in running time come the 3rd period. Your moniker says it all (arrogance) and I would like to see your face if for some reason they happened to falter in the quarters. with all that being said good luck H-town and I do not say this because of 2good4u who seems like quite the piece of work.
