Lakeville North

Special mention to them for their stellar team defense. Finished the tournament only giving up three goals. You'd have thunk they'd be champions but just didn't have much offense when compared to the other big teams. Nonetheless enjoyable to watch.

They are a perfect example of what makes this game great, and heartbreaking all at the same time. You can have a great team, prepare the right way, but often times what it comes down to is having a little luck on your side in the end. That shot on the EN goes in, and who knows maybe we are talking about LN winning State.

If a couple of Tonka's 3 shots off the pipe in the first period, or their multiple misses of open nets over the entire game, went in, it would have been over early. "Luck" tends to even out over time, but it must have been heartbreaking both to miss the empty net by inches and then see a goal scored in the closing seconds. Lakeville also had a few earlier chances that almost went in. Obviously the final LN near-miss stands out more than the earlier Tonka misses due to the time left in the game. LN will certainly be strong next year and don't forget their solid goaltending, too.

I imagine BSM fans are saying the same thing about the section championship game.

The one BSM shot that hit the pipe, but didn't make much of a sound, sure was close to going in. Over the course of a season, things due tend to even out. Timing appears to be everything.
