MSHSL Site Stats Leaderboard and All-Time Records

Post by ghshockeyfan »

FYI - Looks like the MSHSL has added some stats leaderboard functionality for those teams entering stats in their website. See:

http://mshsl.org/mshsl/statsummary.asp?actnum=460

I had no idea they were doing this - maybe it has been there for years?

I know the teams that make the tourney need to have their stats up-to-date on the MSHSL including game results, etc.

Also - and this has been around for a while - here is a link to the all-time stats/records as recognized by the MSHSL:

I know Hannah Brandt had 6 assists in one game this year (at Warroad), wonder how long it takes them to update these. I had no idea that would be a record. 6 is a lot, but I'd have thought the record would be 8 or 9...

I submitted a few over the years as a coach. They have a link on the records page to the forms:

Record Submission Forms:

It takes a week or so. Depending on verification, how busy they are, the importance of the record, etc.

They did somehow manage to post Kelly Pannek's record of scoring 3 goals in 22 seconds almost immediately last month. I can't see that one being broken for a long time, if ever.

That should stand for quite a while. I think Richfield had a gal that did that in 24 seconds but the twist was they were all shorthanded. Pretty impressive!

I don't want to diminish the feat because it is quite impressive but most top ranked teams would have taken the first line off the ice against a weak team after the first or second goal.

Have to disagree with you here. I don't think there is any way you can forecast that a player will come back and score another goal and then yet another one in so short a time. 22 seconds is a very short shift, and before she scored that first one the score was just 4-1. Most teams would not be pulling their first line at that point.

I was at that game and it was actually three shorties in about 42 seconds or something like that. The player was Julie Buzicky - two way player but playing the blue line short handed.

I can't recall all the details (it was a long time ago) but if I remember correctly Richfield started shorthanded in the Tartan zone and Richfield won the face off and the puck went directly to Julie's stick and the slapper beat the Tartan goalie on the stick side.

The face off went to center and again Richfield won the face off, Julie took a nice pass that split the D and she put a water bottle shot over the goalies glove side from above the circles.

Back to center - Richfield won the faceoff and Julie hit a slapper from center ice - it was a rocket that beat the goalie stick side again about a foot off the ground.

JB had one of the hardest shots ever in Richfield Girls Hockey and it was a great performance. Keep in mind - back then Tartan was not a very good team and everyone - especially South Saint Paul padded a lot of stats vs. those Tartan teams.

According to the MSHSL's official records Buzicky's three goals were scored in 54 seconds:

http://www.mshsl.org/mshsl/records.asp?actnum=460

Pannek cut that time by more than half, but I have to believe Buzicky's record for the fastest three SHORTHANDED goals will stand for a long time, maybe forever.
