how far would you travel for a league game

Ok I know there are many up north that travel is way of life for hockey, but in midstate and southern mn , where that big round ball is king to many youth, just how far do you think is ok.

Whats the point? Moorhead to Crosby is a league game. Heck, we used to go 6 hours for a pair of non league games. Been doin it for years. If it is a game period, as a player you got to go, as an assoc. You got to play the district game or forfeit. So what is the point?

East Grand Forks to Baudette, according to Google maps, 172 miles in approx 3 hours and 28 Minutes. We usually group together with road games in Roseau and Warroad, make it an overnight affair.

Bemidji to Hallock, again, according to Google maps, 161 miles in approx 2 hours and 56 minutes. Just looking at D16 from a different angle.

The southern MN reference leads me to believe that the original post stems from the soon to be voted on redistricting of D4. Willmar will double its longest current drive time when it heads to Fairmont. Dassel folks, with current travel of 30 - 40 minutes, will have 3+ hours to Luverne.

According to the D16 website, there are only 6 Bantam A teams, which would mean 5 games. The total mileage, according to google, would be 568, not 750.

Usually it is 7 teams.
Sometimes 8, sometimes 9.

Lake of the Woods numbers at this age are low and playing at the HS level.
East Grand has had 2 BA teams in the past.
Some years Red Lake Falls will play bantam A.

Hallock and Bagley have troubles with numbers and if bantams usually a B team but have played A in the past.

My calculations were including Baudette at 100 miles (per the top of my head method

I believe some are missing the point, As I stated for Northern Mn it is a way of life, the hockey puck came before the basketball But in southern Mn the basketball came long before the hockey puck and most of smaller cities in southern Mn don't even have an outdoor rink. Now lets hear from the south and central on this... or am I missing the the point that nobody from the south or central even talks about hockey. , How far are the metro teams willing to travel to the so called outstate,if some of the teams were to join their leagues {sorry for the PM observer}

My post refers to Western and central mn. What do you consider central mn?
I should add that about 100% of towns in district 15, which is Benson to park rapids, moorhead to Crosby had bball decades before hockey and bball is still many times more popular than hockey. The only arena I can think of in d15 that seats a comparable number to that towns hs gym would be Moorhead. So that is my answer, if you play in moorhead and have a league game in Crosby, LF, or Benson that is about the max distance and you better play it, or forfeit. If you have a scheduled game in Roseau who is not in most leagues with Moorhead, you still go because you committed to it.
VFW bantam A district 9 stretches from Fergus Falls to Warroad.

So what is the point or answer you want to get?
If you are a player or parent of a player, you go to the game because you committed and paid to play on the team, or because you have the honor of playing on the team.
As a team you have to play your league games or forfeit and take a lower seed in the playoffs, which can mean a very much tougher first game.
As an association, you gotta look after all of the teams, so you have your teams play the league games, and travel some distances for other competition....you're trying to advance your association.
Just a little confused as to the answer that is being sought.

Defense, love the post but ask you why then does D15 allow the 4 point game. If your committed to play why then you don't play all the games?

We live in Forest Lake [the metro to me] A our teams play @ Mora/pine city/River Falls. hr or so away. Kinda a drag, but not any different than E.P. or Chas-Chan.

Must be something fairly new. Recently there was a scheduling problem. In any case, if you get a 4 point game at home, I'd assume that you would get the 4 pointer away the next year. If it is a 4 point game that everyone agreed on then what the hey.
Bottom line is, if you're in it, you're in it, 4 point games or not.

The Wolfpack consistantly travels 750 to 1000 miles one way to play league games. The only problem is that when they get there, they can't find themselves because they don't exist!

I don't know how they do that ( or anything else for that matter)

One of my boys play a league game (baseball) in Rochester, about 1.5 hrs away from the metro. Kinda a drag too.
