Good ole in town rivalry, Cathedral has dominated the last several games played between the 2 teams in recent years and it should be noted that the 2 teams did not play eachother at all last season either. Hopefully Apollo can snap another losing streak to another in town rival.

CHS will be a little short on D tonight due to a concussion, plus I believe, if they keep their goalie rotation going, it will be Robak in net tonight instead of Amundson, who is really hot right now. No matter, CHS takes this one 5-1.

Also interesting to see how many 5 minute majors will be dished out tonight under the new rules. Especially for the contact to the head. This game tends to be pretty physical between these two teams.

Apollo has not beaten Cathedral in over a decade. Although Apollo is somewhat improved, I don't see that changing tonight.

Cathedral in running time.

It wont be running time but I expect these 2 teams to play a very physical game when they play eachother, I expect more of the same tonight, its going to be all about goaltending tonight and staying out of the box, Apollo tends to take trips to the box more than they should.

It really depends on which Apollo team shows up. If the team that has lost to both Sartell and Sauk Rapids shows up...it will get ugly. Real ugly.

apollo takes trips to the box because they play like a bunch of idiots running around with their heads cut off. they do not see the ice at all, and due to the penalties i have seen them take with their cheap shots from behind and their hacking, they have no respect for the game. apollo hockey used to be something to be proud of in this town. now they are a bunch of chirping, trash talking poor sports.

crusaders win 16-1

Apollo has a solid first line with some good defensemen and a very determined senior goalie.
If they take three penalties or less, they have a shot.

you are as blind as your name implies. Alpo doesn't even belong on the same ice as Cathedral. If there was a third class in hockey Alpo would have a tough time being competitive in it. They were SO BAD against sartell...it's hard to believe these kids have played organized hockey for 10 plus years.

I didn't see the Sartell game.
They only lost 5-1 tonight.

i dislike how horrible st. cloud public schoolhockey has gotten..that is what i cant stand. do you not have anything intelligent to say or add to the discussion? look at the results of apollos game and the incredibly weak and embarrassing schedule they now play.

This is the best season Apollo has had in 5 years at least, they should be around .500 come seasons end and before this year Tech had been a very strong team for quite a few years. St Cloud hasent produced the Howe's, Harrington's or Hartman's in almost 10 years so I think your expectations are a little bit high. It doesnt help that theres 3 high schools in St Cloud and most of the kids from Tech go to Cathedral to play hockey and occassionally an Apollo kid will to. But dont compare Apollo and Tech to CAthedral because Cathedral recruits kids from all over the area. If there was Cathedral and then an Apollo/Tech combination you would see a stronger game of hockey in St Cloud but thats not going to happen for awhile yet. So calm down and stop trashing a hockey team because their a public school.

playing and extremely weak schedule like apollo and having a losing record makes you a horrible team. tech has not been "very strong" as you call it. when is the last time they beat moorhead or roseau? the whole tech school is bigger than roseau for gods sake. cathedral does not recruit, nor is this discussion about cathedral, not sure why you bring them up always. my point is apollow plays a horrible schedule, and they have horrible results to show for it. what can you say in defense of their schedule. if tech and apollo were combined this year they would still have a losing record playing techs schedule. and be 1 game over 500 if they played apollos.

Yes Cathedral does recruit...In ALL Sports.

As far as the schedule Apollo dropped Wadena so they could play Cathedral. Guess who picked them up...Cathedral. Oh by the way Wadena is rated 153 out of the 155 teams in the state on Minnhock.com.

Classic cherry picking!

Roseau has a population of 2633.
Tech high school has 1241 students 9-12. Twenty five percent of the enrollment are minority students who so far do not play hockey.

Tech is the third smallest public school in AA hockey behind Roseau and Bemidji by 100 kids.
BSM, Hill, AHA and now Holy Family are all smaller private schools who choose to play up.

Why doesn't Cathedral join the Central Lakes conference?
They would be very competitive in several sports.
It would help them more to play Brainerd than Wadena come playoff time.

Why don't they opt up to AA?

Cathedral move to the CLC? C'mon, they'd get killed in football (even though they had a good year this year), which, unfortunately drives most of the conference realignments these day They obviously didnt move to the Granite Ridge based on the strength of the hockey conference!
