Cloquet will be the 6th seed in 7AA and lose to the 3rd seed Elk River in the quarterfinals. That's the best they'll do this year.

Their is some intrigue for their section game vs. Andover on Tue. night now that Andover nearly beat Maple Grove. Looks like we have a new team in 7AA that could pull an upset in the playoffs and chuck a wrench into the seedings along the way. Elk River also gets tougher competition after a ho-hum 3-0 start vs. unranked opponents. Cloquet is dealing with 3 injuries (to a forward and two defensemen). The loss to Buffalo is a bit of a head scratcher. I think Cloquet will be in the running for the 4 seed come February once they get everyone back and I've seen consistent improvement throughout the season with Cloquet every year Esse has been head coach. Forest Lake has a good top line, but after giving up a 3-0 lead at home and losing to Roseville and getting manhandled by Rapids, I just don't see Forest Lake making a visit to Duluth on Feb. 25 for the semis. Grand Rapids has proven they are deserving of a top 5 ranking. They have two solid goaltenders and sophomore Hunter Shepard got a shutout in his first ever start. Rapids has been getting scoring in a very balanced way throughout the lineup. If Andover can keep consistent with the way they played vs. Maple Grove, then they will be in contention for a 3 seed this year and should crack the top 20 rankings before too long.
You posted those 3 days apart (see 7AA thread for the second quote). So which one is it?

You're not from Cloquet are you? I'm sorry if you are. Your hockey team has seen better days.

Too bad Cloquet wont be a contender. Their rivalry with the hounds has really lost its luster in the last few years.

cloquet is always a suprise team at the end of the year so you never know what is going to happen. last year they made it to the semifinals and went 16-9. not to bad of a season id say. i would sure hope duluth east is better when their entire 1st line are D1 prospects. cloquets 1st line has one senior one junior and a sophmore

I was just messing with him. CEC will be better at the end of the year. But making it back to the semi-finals will be a tall task for them. The 3 v. 6 and 4 v 5 games are gonna be very tough. If CEC can play Forest Lake or Andover I think they'll win in the quarterfinals. If they play Elk River I don't like their chances. By the time CEC gets everyone healthy there might not be enough time to make up for the rough start in 7AA and get home ice in round 1.

I was hoping you weren't suffering from dementia :D The Jacks definitely won't be in the top 2 seeds - very slim chance at #3. Realistically, they'll end up 4 or 5 probably. If they are fortunate to win their quarterfinal, facing either DE or GR in the semis will be a daunting task.

Has Kuhlman added some size and strength this year? I see he's already lighting it up on the scoreboard this winter...
