A bit of controversy over this one... Apparently LPH had a mistake on the cover but was correct inside the paper:

They printed this incorrect list on the cover:

You mean that rankings came out after the 10Nov version I posted I assume.

I was building the historical record with this thread.

The latest - 17Nov - are posted now (a minute after your post about this - I wasn't quick enough! :D )

You can always find things to quibble about with these rankings, but here is one that makes you wonder. In Class A they have Crookston ranked #5 and Thief River Falls #8. But TRV's record is 4-0, including Tuesday's 7-0 spanking of Crookston, yet Crookston (now 1-2) is still being ranked higher?

I'm also a little surprised that they have Minnetonka ranked #3 in Class AA. No doubt they are an excellent team, but they now have two losses: to #7 Anoka and to #8 Hill-Murray. Problem is, based on each team's records to date, I don't know who I would put ahead of them...Edina maybe? We'll just have to wait to see how the Hornets do in their own tournament this weekend. First up on Friday will be #2A Breck, and if they manage to win that game they'll take on the winner of #1AA BSM and #4A Blake.

I'm guessing the ratings were compiled before Tuesday's results, since they are dated 11/23.

Even though 11/23 is the day AFTER Tuesday's games, you're probably right. Normally LPH's rankings come out on Thursday, but apparently they compiled this week's a little earlier than normal due to the Holiday (probably so they could get this week's paper published in time). And the boys haven't played any games yet so those rankings wouldn't change...

Interesting how these differ from the one above, does the KRACH rating use statistics. If so, this is the one that should be posted and not one that does not really mean much.

Thanx for the posts all.

All 5 teams from Lake conference in the top 20? Now don't get me wrong I don't put much stock in early season rankings, but I can't imagine that all teams in one conference are ranked at the same time.

Very interesting... Not as shocking based on the size and/or affluence and/or hockey history of those schools though IMHO.

Not sure on Roseville in the playoffs last year... Hmm... I'm sure another poster on here would know the answer to this though.

KRACH only looks at record and opponents records. So - win by 20 or 1 and a win is a win is a win I guess. No goal differential or other algorithmic implications tied to stats. Note that I don't think KRACH is entirely accurate yet. There are some teams ranked a little too high based on not playing too strong of a scheudle yet. Once those teams see a tougher SOS, then we'll see how things shake-out. Overall ranking wise, I think this is true for some of the class A teams without enough AA or tougher opponent cross-over yet. In time...

Only one that matters is the end of season and who wins the last game. Everything else is just people with a lot of free time.
Amen to this comment! That's kind of how all of us are perceived on this forum I guess. :D

The thing that I love best is that in the end it is all decided on the rink - and that's the way it should be. You play the game on the ice; not on paper, by rankings, online, or elsewhere.

Roseville lost to HM in the section finals last year. I believe only the 2nd time HM had ever beaten them. As I said in the other thread, Irondale is ranked way too low by LPH, Tonka too high and they have Anoka ahead of undefeated Blaine who beat them. Breck would be the easy #1 in AA if they were in AA.

I saw Roseville for the first time against Park. Roseville is very impressive. They are for real and will be a tough team to beat. Too bad they haven't played any of the top teams.

Can't argue 4AA is the toughest section again. Still ahs 4 teams rated in the top 10. Whomever comes out of the section will be a solid squad.
