There are mistakes and then there are mistakes..... Admittedly my only information on this subject is what I have gleaned on this board and from talking with some of the folks in D6, but it sure sounds like he crossed the line here. Even if I agree with the intent, there are ways to do these things and his strategy could have been better. If his effort to do something is clouded by a personal agenda, then maybe it is time for a change at the top at D6. I know if I found out that our DD had a personal grudge and was using their office inappropriately, I would have a problem with that.elliott70 wrote:Brad is a firend of mine.
He works hard for kids in hockey and has done some great things...
if this was a mistake, so be it...
I, for one, have made a mistake.
He is putting in the effort to do something.
Was it a mistake for Minnesota Hockey to back Brad Hewitt?

This statement is so unbelievably far from being factual that it borders on insanity. Not only was Disctrict 6, Minnesota Hockey, and USA Hockey aware of the rule, there was strong support all the way up to the USA Hockey level to pass the rule.Buck Wheeler wrote:Given that Brad Hewitt put his rule in place without any debate or input from the district 6 board, Minnesota Hockey or USA Hockey it seems like it was short sighted. The rule was in place before most of the dist 6 board knew what it even was.
I would watch what you say because what you say can easily be interpreted as slander when it is as unfactual as your statement was.

This was/is one person's personal agenda against another person and District 6 was taken along for the ride.
You are insane. This is something that has been brought up by parents and coaches for YEARS!
It's all about picking a league and sticking to it. If players weren't missing NUMEROUS games and practices to attend other league games and practices, and if Bernie McBain wasn't encouraging it, this would be a non issue because there would be no need for a rule.
If you think it is fair to the other kids on the team for your kid to take a spot on a team and then pick and choose when he\she will show up, YOU are the one with the messed up priorities.

To all who thinks this is just a Brad Hewitt vs Bernie McBain thing, you are absolutely clueless. This has been pushed by parents and coaches for YEARS. And it's Minnesota Hockey's insurance policy that would have to cover any loss, so there is NO WAY Brad Hewitt could push this through without their support. And from what I have heard, it has support all the way up to the USA Hockey level.
No one is saying Bernie can't run his business, but if he thought he could encourage kids to miss league games and practices to make his events and not get a reaction from Minnesota Hockey, then he is dumber than I thought.

If you're speaking to me, no one fed me a line. I have first-hand knowledge of the situation and 75% of what has been said in this thread is a load of crap. In fact, some of it borders on being slander.HockeyFan55 wrote:I don't know who mixed your kool-aid but someone fed you a line.
