Again, there is no perfect system for structuring your youth teams, especially for the large associations where there's such depth in talent. As I stated in a previous post, if it was all about winning, large associations would field one team at the A, B1, and B2 levels, and have the remaining kids play on C teams.

Great season for both those teams. I still find it amusing that a sport like hockey that is fighting for survival. Numbers are plummeting in the land of Hockey,
"Canada" doesn't adopt more of the NFL model. NO cuts or A or B teams until they get to HS. What a Concept or is that why the NFL is "America's" favorite sport?? Than again I like the young up and coming parents to tell me what my kid can and can't do and why they are better parents than the rest of us..
I did find it odd to hear the OMG coach had scouted the last 8 games of EW? What was he bringing home LORD STANLEY

I'm sure you have a valid point--I just can't make sense of your postJaginCake wrote:Great season for both those teams. I still find it amusing that a sport like hockey that is fighting for survival. Numbers are plummeting in the land of Hockey,

yes juiceman you are correct i ramble at times. These boards are quite the intellectual playgrounds....I read the thread from start to finish and the debate of AA vs A vs b1 vs OMG-2 huge high schools loading up teams vs one community with one High School. What is better for their development???
I guess i forgot to put in how in the most popular sport in the United States, Football, they don't cut, and they don't label. I have come to the conclusion, that many of the kids don't leave that game (football) with a bad taste that some old person from their perspective cut them. The kids seem to figure it out on their own if they can succeed at football. size and physical play are factors but they are still allowed to play with the "exceptional ones"
Rochester was a great steward for how hockey should be in most of the state. 3 A teams 4 b-1 teams. In there regular season districts they were the top teams. One A team got to state? Very impressive for them. So that was my conclusion. So who are the Exceptional teams for? The parents or the Kids??? Most kids attitudes are just what they hear from their parents. I'm not a fan of sports because my kid might go onto bigger things with it. I'm a fan because it keeps my kid busy 5 nights a week. 5 nights he is not tempted by things like beer or drugs. I have found it interesting that by the age of 13 70% of kids have quit playing sports and by 15 75% have experimented with drugs and alcohol.
