Bantams who will contribute at HS next year
I realize I have to take things posted here with a grain of salt, but I at least wanted to get the discussion going...for those of you who see the top Bantam A teams in the state, who can we expect to be important players at the high school level next year, and where will they be playing their high school hockey?

Didn't they play in Chaska last year? How did they get around the D6 rule about not being able to play "A" the first year of a transfer?Hockeydad1893 wrote:Open enroll, him and spinner should have a big impact on a team that is losing 13 seniors.oldschoolpuckster wrote:Snuggerud lives in Chaska...how can he play for EP Bantam A?

Karl.....Should this list include 9th graders which have had Bantam eligibilty this past season, but was rostered on the Varsity High School hockey team? If so, there were a handful of them within NWSC that should be considered. The teams that the players played on included Elk River, Blaine, Coon Rapids. It may not be the toughest conference in High School hockey, but it is near the top

Re: Bantams who will contribute at HS next year
I'm mostly interested in current bantams, since I created this thread with an eye towards high school rankings next year. MN Hockey Hub has good information on players who actually did play varsity this past season; bantam info is harder to find, so I wanted to hear a few names. But if you think there are freshmen who played varisty this past year who you think are going to be huge contributors very soon, by all means, list them--just make sure to note they're already on varsity.Nobodyonya wrote:karl(east) wrote:I realize I have to take things posted here with a grain of salt, but I at least wanted to get the discussion going...for those of you who see the top Bantam A teams in the state, who can we expect to be important players at the high school level next year, and where will they be playing their high school hockey?

You're saying they as if both are from Chaska? Spinner has played for EP for a while. As for getting around the rule, you'd have to ask his dad about that one!oldschoolpuckster wrote:Didn't they play in Chaska last year? Shepard goalie from Grand Rapids. East currently has no kid in the aressenal that matches this kid in net.
Magni F/D from Grand Rapids will contribute. Karl you need to be concerned about your Hounds in net after the graduation of jojo. Unless Randolph can recruit one in to live in his basement you boys are in BIG trouble in net next season.

He'll be a 9th grader next year. WAHA has to support two high school teams now so I would imagine they'll find a spot for him on the high school roster. Though as an entering 9th grader, he'll have a lot more options than just Woodburyold goalie85 wrote:Does anyone know what grade the younger whalin is in?? I heard he had three points last night at the Bantam state for Woodbury. I saw him as a Pee-wee and he was great. Just as good as the younger Nanne at that age.

I heard they had a fairly good Bantam A goalie this year. Did not personally get to see him play - I think he's a 1995.northwoods oldtimer wrote:Shepard goalie from Grand Rapids. East currently has no kid in the aressenal that matches this kid in net.

The kid is top notch for his age level! The question is will he play next year with there being two seniors for GR one that i see alot of potentional in if he gets some playing that being patrick flaherty! If shepard plays i could see him being the best sophomore goalie in the state next year

I like the sounds of that. I remember a couple years back most GR fans looking forward to the 2011 season, last year was just a pleasant surprise. A lot of quality experienced players returning, if Sheppard lives up to the hype and even one forward from bantams can come up and contribute then GR has a great shot to win the whole thing next year.rbkhockey4life wrote:interestedbystander wrote:I heard they had a fairly good Bantam A goalie this year. Here is a couple of non-Bantam A kids that could help their high school teams next year show great improvement.
North St. Paul had a 15-9-1 record last year. It was also the first year (as ninth graders) that the Oliver twins played on the Polars team. Both kids finished in the top five in point production for the Polars this past season. The Polars should improve.
South St. Paul had a senior dominated team this past season that went 16-9. But they have two kids that are coming back for the next few years that played for them this year that are outstanding. Billy Brandecker was in the Packers top five in points as a 9th grader and Jack Pietruszewski was an advanced 15 defenseman last summer and will be returning. They also will get a number of kids off the SSP/IGH bantam team that went to the regionals as peewees and bantams.
Then there is New Prague that last season went 12-11-2 and has four of their top ten point getters returning that were 9th and 10th graders last season. Their top goal score was Cody Meyer a 9th grader. They could be joined by Alex Gregor, a peewee B player for New Prague (they did not skate A level last year), who was one of the best peewee players this past season in the state.

Fred have you fallen off your rocker? I understand that they didn't have a PWA team but really a 8th Grader that Played PWB1 is going to step up and contribute at the highschool level? Unless he scored 105 goals this year and grew 8 inches and gained 100 lbs I would have a hard time believing that this will happen. But I have not seen the kid play. Give us some reasons behind your thinking.frederick61 wrote:Here is a couple of non-Bantam A kids that could help their high school teams next year show great improvement.

Dogeatdog,
The New Prague kid is already good size and playing at New Prague, a smaller program, he should get a good look. More importantly, he is one of those kids that scoring knack (knows how to score).
He is already bigger than the top two kids on the Rochester Lourdes team that went to state this year. Funny thing is that I saw him play in the D4 playoffs a year ago at the Le Sueur Community Center. He was an average player.
But then who knows how a kid develops.
