There are no locks for the NHL. ECHL and AHL are loaded with big guys that may never get a sniff of the show. Or have played in the show and are fighting to get back.

Sidney Crosby wasn't a lock for the NHL? (barring injury of course)

Indeed.

I can see another Lucia in Maroon and Gold; hopefully better than the last one for the team's sake.

Really? he only became captain of the team. no big deal.

I have heard the Notre Dame rumors as well...

If you had a dad coaching in the WCHA, and you were not going to play for him, would you not go to a school from another conference? So you would not have to possible play a couple series and playoffs against your own father... and your father went to the school you are looking to attend... and it is a good academic school... just seems like the right place for Mario, if he does not play for his father... :-k

There was an article in the Star Tribune about Mario and where he's at in terms of making his college decision. I'd link the story but there does not appear to be an online version. Nothing definite yet, but it does say that Denver, CC and Notre Dame are in the running.

740 am in fargo reported that he had verbally committed to notre dame. that was last weekend. not really sure why there are discrepancies in the story.

Did you just say the education at Notre Dame is "second to none"?

Ooops.
Be kind. Rewind.

USHL then the Dame. Great choice in my opinion. He won't have to listen to know it alls like us talk about his dad.

True...

Understand if he goes to Notre Dame or elsewhere, but as Gopher fan, I would like to see him wear the Maroon & Gold for 2 or 3 years...

I heard from a source at the State Tournament that he was considering UND, but maybe he meant Notre Dame, either way I think this is a sign that the "Don" maybe leaving soon. Long overdue.

This came out 2 days ago. Mario's chances of being a Rodent are still there.
