I'm not saying what team (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) but Bemidji State's goalie deserves some kudos for his work this season.

Dan Bakala had a .918% for a team that didn't play very good defense throughout this year. There were several games this year where he had to make 40+ saves. He made a total of 742 saves this year in 27 games played average of 27.5 saves a game). You can compare that to Aaron Dell of UND who made 700 saves in 33 games played (average of 21) or UNO Faulkner who had 867 in 36 games (24 saves). He plays for Bemidji State so he doesn't get the publicity that players at bigger programs get but he certainly deserves some recognition. I've said it all year that if I could choose one goalie, I'm taking Bakala. Party because of his athleticism, and party because his last name is fun to chant.

Pretty much agree with all your picks except Zengerle from Wisconsin should be on all rookie team ahead of Brown or Schwartz, his 30 assists lead the Badgers and is good for second in the entire WCHA in that category and he is 4th on the team in total points (15th in the league in points ahead of Schwartz and Brown) and he is counted on more heavily offensively for the Badgers than either Schwartz or Brown are.

Also I could see Craig Smith (WI) maybe being a third teamer forward he is 7th in the league in total points with 41.

The WCHA awards are out. I nailed 12/15. I missed Mike Connelly (who I thought I typed in, oops), John Faulkner and Justin Faulk. I don't know how you leave off Brittain who led the Pioneers to a 2nd place finish. He's only a freshman and he had to replace Cheverie. It was supposed to be a time-share in Denver this season. I'm not surprised to see Faulk make it, but I thought Olimb deserved it.

1st team:
F - Frattin
F - M. Connelly
F - J. Connelly
D - Schultz
D - Genoway
G - Dell

2nd team:
F - Fontaine
F - Shore
F - Zucker
D - Gardiner
D - Donovan
G - Patterson

3rd team:
F - Gregoire
F - Schwartz
F - LeBlanc
D - Davis
D - Faulk
G - Faulkner

I went 3/5 on the Rookie team. Which I knew would happen. I knew Brown would make it, but I put Bjugstad in there because he's so much better. Jensen deserved the nod, but Makowski was the easy pick.

Rookie team:
F - Zucker
F - Schwartz
F - Brown
D - Makowski
D - Faulk
G - Brittain

No surprises here...

I still would have picked Zengerle over Brown or Schwartz, JMHO

Schwartz would've been first team if not for his injury and Zengerle's numbers faded down the stretch.

I can give credence to Schwartz in what you are saying but he wa sinjured so we'll never know for sure. Zengerle's numbers weren't great pts wise int he last 7 games, in fact only 1 assist in the last 7 games but they were pretty stellar and consistant up until then. I mean to me that is somewhat the difference between us talking about all rookie team and all WCHA team, if he put up his' averages down the stretch he might have been all-conference but I still think his numbers and considering his role on the team were deserving of all-rookie team. Even if his numbers were down, down the stretch he still finished second in assists overall in the league, that is pretty stellar and his 36 total points were pretty darn good for a rookie. Now to be fair, I will knock him in one regard and that was his +/- he needs to improve in that area and become a better two way player but again, he's a freshman/rookie. Still not too bad.

That said Michael Mersch was a bit overlooked even to us Badger fans. His 19 points were ok, nothing too special but his +23 in +/- overall and +17 in conference games both lead his entire team. Not sure where that ranks in the WCHA but that is pretty salty for a rookie who played in every game this season.....
