Sorry GFD you are a better person than I, too much bad history (Happened in the first person so speaking in first person...sorry). But, I will congratulate The Coaches and Players from White Bear on a fantastic season. Good luck at State and break the second curse!!
Buzzie??
I know EXACTLY what you are saying...
I am such a big man, I even sent Sager an email to tell him I still don't like him.. still don't respect him.. but Congrats!!!
And Captjimbo... here's what I said during the actual games in progress thread:
Mac Jansen has lived in the shadows of Brandon Wahlin and Max Birkinbine for the past 4 years. While those guys are making A Bantams, Mac gets sent to B Bantams, and does everything in his power to prove people wrong..
He eventually makes varsity as a 4th liner/JV player as a soph while Birki and Wahlin are 2nd line... then works his tail off and gets to 3rd line..
Last year, he gets to play some 2nd line and scores 10-15 goals or so.. And this year, he not only has come out from the shadow of Birki and Wahlin, he has been the MVP of the team. I don't care what anyone else says.. Mac = MVP of the SEC.
That was Mac's 35th goal this season and the greatest goal of his life.
Congrats, Mac - you deserve it!!
As I had stated on another thread a few weeks ago, I have always believed Mac was the most talented player of this group - but he just kept getting held back, and mostly because of his own effort and attitude.
This is a kid I saw score 5 goals in one game off my son at B Bantams, and all I could do is praise the kid for working his butt off , instead of sulking like most kids do (my son included)> And as a parent, rather than having jealousy or animosity, all I could do was clap my hands, enjoy seeing a gifted player, and pat him on the back and keep pushing him.
Until this year, the past 4-5 years, I have been the self-appointed-asst-goalie coach, so, I would be at games early and have chances to talk to kids before every game. When Mac was a soph and skating JV, we talked before every game. He'd come over and sit with me before stretching and warm-up to get feedback from me.. and we'd talk about his game.. This kid had it in his heart that he was going to take his natural talent and make the most of it, and I just don't know if there is a single player in that Bears locker room who has dedicated himself to being the best player possible more than Mac has done.
