The seeds should look like this (in my opinion)

1. Eden Prairie
2. Edina
3. Duluth East
4. Eagan

Just for fun I'll seed 5-8 too
*5. Blaine
*6. White Bear Lake
*7. Moorhead
*8. Lakeville North

Actually when you look at it this may be the most balanced state tourney in a while. It's not very often these teams have played each other and beat each other this much.
I think it would be a disappointment if Edina is not the top seed.
Beyond that, arguments could be made for 15 different orders and justified.

One of Blaine and Eagan won't get seeded.
History says that Edina should want the #2 seed. In the four years that the state tourney has had a seeding process the #1 seed has never won it all, been upset in the quarterfinals twice, and only made one championship game appearance. On the other hand during the seeding era the #2 seed has won 3 of 4 state titles and never failed to make it to the championship game.

Just something to think about.

EP
Edina
East
Eagan

Now, go back to the pre-selected brackets and be done with it. It's starting to sound like the BCS!

1. Eden Prairie
2. Blaine
3. Duluth East
4. Edina
Eagan
White Bear Lake
Moorhead
Lakeville North

EP has the toughest schedule and most notalble wins. Blaine, DE, WBL are tied for best overall records; Blaine beat both of them. DE gets three because of their record and wins over EP WBL and Moorhead. Edina's record isn't that great but they have many notable wins including 2 over EP and 1 over DE, plus a tie to Blaine. Eagan has an argument but not enough notable wins although the EP win is huge. WBL has an argument too but has losses to Blaine and DE and just the 1 big notable win over Hill. This really could go anyway. I don't think the seeds matter too much this year as all teams are very even and can beat each other. Should be a great tourney.

And have quarterfinal matchups between Moorhead and Lakeville North? No way keep the seeds they're awesome!

When you just look at these specific three and their head to head match ups, it COULD look something like this:

1. Edina
2. Duluth East
3. Eagan
4. Eden Prairie

Blaine also beat East, beat WBL and tied Edina. Putting these 5 in an order when you look at their head to head match ups is very difficult, imo.
You are not. The one that was started first was started before a couple of the finals were complete, so it was speculation and was discussion of what might happen.

This one was started after all section tournaments had been complete and is discussion of the teams that actually made it.
But it is the loses of the teams you have ranked 1,2,3. EP beat all of those teams
All of what teams. They played Edina 3 times and lost two of them. They played Eagan once and lost. They played East once and lost. Hence 1-4 against those teams.

They did beat Moorhead and North, for what it's worth though.
When you look at EP's wins this season, with teams like Burnsville, Hill Murray, and Maple Grove not making it, imo, they don't stand up to at least two of the other teams they lost to.

EP will get the top seed.
They probably will. But should they? With who is not here and who is that beat them, do they deserve it? You know my opinion, what's yours?
Yes, they undoubtedly should be the #1 seed. They beat Hill (the third best team in the state), they beat Wayzata (the second best team in the state) twice, they got the Edina monkey off their back with a late season win, and anyone who's watched a lot of top teams would know that EP has the most skill and depth out of any of the teams left, plus their seniors have won 4 state championships at their age in the last 5 years. They deserve the top seed and are the favorites to win it all.
EP two out of three.

Does a team's record against teams who aren't in the State Tournament count for much? Should it? I don't think there is any set criteria for what the coaches should consider when voting, so I suppose they are free to consider anything.

If they consider only what teams have done against other teams in the Class AA tournament, here is what we have:

Blaine (2-0-1)
Duluth East (3-2)
Eagan (2-2)
Eden Prairie (3-4)
Edina (4-1-1)
Lakeville North (1-2)
Moorhead (0-2)
White Bear Lake (0-2)

While I agree (mostly) with the sentiment that Eden Prairie is the best team in the state, I'm also aware that this is through my own eyes which can be faulty at times. :)

If you're going to point out Eden Prairie's win over Edina, then shouldn't you also consider that they lost twice to Edina? Just sayin'

Now the records I just posted above can be skewed, of course. Not everybody played the same teams, so it becomes an apples-and-oranges thing. So take all this with a grain of salt.

The coaches will probably vote on what they think as well as any actual evidence. While nearly everyone should agree that Lakeville North, Moorhead and White Bear Lake won't be one of the four, the main question becomes: East or Blaine? Blaine beat East during the regular season; I know, East outplayed Blaine badly but the point is to outscore your opponent, not outplay your opponent. So if Blaine gets seeded rather than East, I won't be crying foul. I remember when East went to state in 1995, people up here were blaming their luck that they had to face three-time repeat champs Jefferson in the quarterfinals. Didn't matter then, did it? You still gotta win those three games to be crowned champ.
