Goldfishdud as you know the will to win and heart is how the Bears get through every season let alone the playoffs from year after year of uninspired coaching.

They have played each other in the section finals 7 times since 2000, with White Bear winning once (2001).
Obviously someone is new to High School Hockey. The most impressive part to the HM vs WBL rivalry is that since 1975 (the year that Hill-Murray was allowed to play in the MSHSL) Either Hill-Murray or WBL have gone to the state tourney from section 3/4 every year except for 3 (1981 - North St. Paul, 1982 - WB Mariner and 2004 - Centennial). For you math majors that is 34 (35 if you include Mariner) out of the last 37 state tourneys! I know most of the old vets of this site are well aware of this but I just thought I'd educate our young bucks...

That being said, I wish I was able to make it back home for Friday nights game; I'll be listening on MSBN which is an out of staters favorite friend come section tourney time.
Nope, not new to high school hockey. I figured going back to the beginning of this millennium was enough. I was too lazy to go back any further. I am painfully aware from personal experience how good both White Bear and Hill were back in the mid 70s. I still have nightmares and am trying to block these painful memories of extreme butt-kickings. I am still looking for a good therapist.
Haha, nice. I'm sure you aren't the only one in the last 37 years that is in that boat!

My first experience with the White Bear Lake, Hill-Murray rivalry was back in 2004, which was the last time that White Bear beat Hill. Coaching and great Pioneer defense will win this one.

I may go.. just to teach you guys some manners towards your elders!!

Since I no longer have to live my life thru my son any more, I will live my hockey viewing thru you youngsters... You guys give fine recaps of the games.

Besides, my last 3 years of going to the Fairgrounds has been a parking fiasco. Have fun boys... Good luck.

I will say this about Sager.

He built this team as a plan 3 years ago. He knew this was going to be his best chance when he kept 6,7 sophs on varsity and cut some seniors. I know he's made some tough choices, and he knows he's made some bad decisions. However, he has had a nice season, but he has to learn to beat quality teams. His winning % versus quality teams outside conference play is about .250.....

Tonight....... IS the night..

Bears 4 H-M 3

How's that??

Its kind of funny. Absolutley no one with the exception of those related to the Hill players wants Hill to win. When you put together a select team of great players, how can you not be expected to win. Yes, most of the players are very good and I dont deny that. But really, who cares.

WB has nothing to lose, and lose they will not.

Good luck WB, everyone is pulling for you guys. Hit them hard and they will fall apart. Mr. Hockey canditate #11, all 5' 8" of him is a good skater but is terrified of getting hit.
