RIP SPUDS HOCKEY '10-'11

Post by Potatohead9 »

From what I have heard and know of this team the latest incident with the police is just the tip of an iceburg. The "cancers" of the locker room are now infecting the younger players. It sounds like these players in question have been bad apples throughout their youth hockey years. From Squirts to Varsity perhaps its the parents of the players that one should be looking at and saying, "where was your kid last saturday night?" I bet it will come out in a police report soon.....too bad some of the players are under 18 and protected by the court system.
That being said Spuds will win a close game to Roseau

If Roseau pulls out a win, perhaps this would be a poetic ending to a season and team that has been a black mark on Spud Hockey and Moorhead.
The spud lineup for next years team should be without a few bad apples otherwise Morninville's days could be numbered if they are not already.

It sounds like this has been on ongoing problem and a tougher stand maybe should have been taken with these players before this point. I really hope these kids poor behavior isn't rewarded with Moorhead win. Roseau is class year in and year out and their players and program reflect that. GO ROSEAU!

Right, no Roseau player has EVER taken a sip of alcohol or broken any team rules. Gimme a break!

Having said that, it seems like Morinville has had his hands full with some players on this year's team, based on some of the things we've heard and some things that haven't been made public. I think some of these players have other things that are a higher priority than hockey.

I don't recall hearing about any Roseau players getting suspended for breaking team rules? Enlighten me if I'm wrong.

Let's just tell the kids that other teams are doing the same things they are, so it's OK. That kind of mentality will not help these kids grow up and get their act together.

On our team a few years ago, there was a very talented player who had been a constant troublemaker. He had played varsity his Jr. year and was put on Jr. Gold the next, due to his attitude and behavior. The coach didn't want that kind of distraction in the locker room. It was a gutsy move by the coach to lose a starter, but he realized that there are things bigger than hockey.

I suppose I can give them kudos for not getting caught as often but Roseau kids aren't saints either. No group of kids are. I remember a few years a few Roseau hockey players were suspended for a few football games but they brazenly had a cooler full of beer and cans of chew sitting out in the open in the rink locker room.

Can we save the accusations for another place and time, please? Let's focus on the game for now.

Let's Go Roseau!!

I thought about what to write for a score and I honestly do not have a clue what is going to happen.

There are to many variables this year playing into this game.

I think this:
If Moorhead wins it is going to be by 3-4 goals.

If Roseau wins it is going to be by 1.

Keys:
Moorhead has to take and get ALL shots on the net.

Roseau needs to shut Moorheads offense down and have STRONG goaltending. Watch the rebounds.

Best of luck RAMS!!!

Brilliant ! You could say that about any team that has ever played a game.

Any updated news about the investigation? Will the Spuds we short one or more players for this matchup?

The line up will be the same as the Buffalo game unless something changes.

Moorhead 6 Roseau 1

That last win has to give Moorhead some kind of edge?

Do you honestly think that the school is going to have any kind of urgency at section time?

As much as it kills me to say it...

Rams 3

Spuds 1

Losing one of their d-men, and the whole investigation distraction is just too much for the spuds to overcome in the playoffs... Especially against a good post season team like Roseau

In that game, Roseau had several players hurt and had to use some JV kids in the lineup (we talked to one of the Roseau assistant coaches after the game). Roseau is healthy now, so the game will be much closer than the last one, I'm sure. Plus, Roseau beat the Spuds 2-1 back in December, so don't forget about that.

His point more than likely has to do with questionable/poor goaltending from the Rams this year, so yes - excellent point!

Go Rams!

Excellent game, lots of action, plenty of hitting. The refs let them play for the most part and probably let some things go that they should have called. But still a very good game. I'm sure Roseau will be thinking about the missed 5-on-3 power play opportunity in the first period and weren't able to capitalize on it.
