Just got home from the ST Ice Arena. The place was packed and it was a great game. It was 2-2 throughout the 3rd until Ben Bahe put HM ahead with 6 min left. The empty netter made it 4-2. Shots were 28-20 for HM. They did have an edge in possession and chances. Both teams had lots of scoring chances. Both goalies were very sharp. Fun night for Pioneer fans. Congratulations to Coach Lechner and the team for winning the school's 35th conference championship in 51 years of hockey.
I think Lavalle hurt his knee in Moorhead and must have re-injured it tonight. He needed a lot of help to get from the bench to the locker room after the 2nd. Hope he's alright. They do have a week off and he could skip the quarterfinal game if needed.
This is an incredible winter for HM sports. The girls hockey team shared the conference title with SSP and are going to their first state tournament after beating #1 seed WBL in the semis and defending state champ Roseville last night. The girls BB team is 24-0 and ranked # 1 in AAA. The boy BB team is 12-0 in the conference and has a 3 game lead with 4 to go. They are about to win the school's first ever conference boys BB championship.
What a great game tonight. Anyone who thought it wouldnt be sold out or packed to the limits was wrong. I have never seen STA rink stacked 2 deep along the top rail and also all along the glass. Anyone looking for a "private school championship game" saw it tonight!!

Great broadcast by mnsportsnetwork.com. Very good commentary and the video was very well done. Good game too, perhaps the private school championship game I hear so many wish to have, or even the true state championship game as I can see both teams finishing the season in St. Paul without another loss.
