Duluth Icebreakers 12A Brackets

Post by Burnbabyburn »

What a great field in Duluth - let's handicap, OK?

Burnsville/White Bear Lake - I'd hope that we could do it, and let's say we do, but... winner gets winner of...
Edina/Elk River - Elk River beat them last time
Blaine/Chaska-Chan - Can Blaine's goalie stand up to CC buzzsaw?
Lakeville/OMG - Which Lakeville? If it's South, I think they win
Duluth/Cottage Grove - Home team is pretty good
Minnetonka/Moorhead - Tonka
Eden Prairie/Stillwater - Ponies
Thunder Bay/Wayzata - which TB team is this? Never mind, doesn't matter - Trojans

Then...

Elks over Blaze
CC over Lakeville
Duluth over Tonka
Wayzata over Stillwater

CC over Elk River
Wayzata over Duluth

Then it gets fun - I'll take CC

This is a pretty deep field. Why isn't Centennial there?

First puck drops at 2PM. Awesome field of Minnesota's best teams! An exciting celebration of girls hockey- gifts, awards, media coverage, a preview of state? Whitecaps versus the Manitoba Maple Leafs in a grudge match Saturday night at the Heritage. After, the girls can wear an olympic medal and get autographs. Clinics being put on by the Whitecaps demonstrating excercise and warm-up techniques. Olympian Jenny Potter meeting with coaches to discuss issues relating to girls hockey. Wow!!

Thanks Zam- working from 6AM until 10PM didn't allow me to update a forum. I've been working the 12A's so that's all I have good input on. Really incredible games to watch. All of them have been quality- lot of O/T's and tight games. Even the wider margin games weren't indicitive of the quality. Wayzata advanced last night after trailing a motivated Skipper team 2-0 in the third, winning in a dramatic S/O. Edina 12UA played fantastic in all their games, but lost in OT's and S/O's, dropping to the bottom of the bracket. Stillwater vs. EP was a barnburner. EP tied the game in the last 2 minutes to force OT and two shootouts, eventually winning. Moorehead saw some lopsided scores, but played valliantly behind some very strong goaltending. Very good officiating on all levels. Good sportsmanship too- the teams that were allowed to attend have parents and coaches that are respectful and their girls have all been outstanding! The excercise clinic was a huge success according to teams that attended. The Whitecaps and Maple Leafs was a blast for all that attended too. Today will be very fun to watch...

NP Hardwater. I was up there watching my niece.

I just got word... Wayzata over OMG 3-1 (I think the 3rd goal was an EN goal since it was 2-1 just a couple minutes prior to me getting the final score.)

I had to head back to the twin cities because I have to work in a couple hours.

Duluth .....Canal St. What a great time.
Edina out shot every opponent but needs to learn how to finish. That's a girls hockey problem. Great competition, great tourney, great venue. No complaints. Got beat in a shoot-out, got beat by a pesky B-ville team and great goaltending....but finished with a close win 2-1 with Lakeville. Outshot them all like 80- 30 and our Goalie ROCKS!!!!! I love the parody in 12A!

Yes, we beat Edina. Looked like your big scorer slowed way down when she got two penalties. Saw her score a pretty goal against Lakeville. Those first two games were two of our best. The Duluth hosts are really tops. Go Blaze!

I think you're discrediting your BV girls inferring "two best games". I saw the Chaska Burnsville Game earlier in the season & your kids held their ground with 9 skaters in a 3 to 0 loss. I'm sure you've had others. Your girls have not reached their APEX.

Sorry if I'm "discrediting" the girls by saying they played two of the best games this year.

Not sure that failing to mention CC discredits our girls. but OK
