Very true... but that's not why virginia lost... Virginia lost because they took stupid penalties. The checking from behind was very uncalled for. It's hard to win games when a player takes 3 penalties for 9 min...

You can clearly see for yourself on isportsnorth.com (you can re-watch the games) that the first goal did not go in, the ref was right there and blew it. And yes Virginia took some stupid penalties but there is no reason the pentalty at the end should have been 5 and an ejection, it should have been a 2 and 10. The kid was fighting to be back on the ice.
5 on 5 Virginia dominated and shut their first line down. Hibbing's power play was very good and that's where Johnson and Decenzo did some damage but they barely got shots off 5 on 5.

virginia people stop complaining you lost, let hibbing be happy. Heard it was a good game, but got a little chippy. Refs always seem to lose control of games between these two and bad calls should be expected both ways. I'll be looking forward to the hopefully two rematches in the next two months

Hibbing fans are thee greatest to listen to after a game. Even though its 16 yr olds who think they are sweet. You guys won a close game 4-3 and act like you kicked the PLEASE BAN ME out of them. You got a goal that didnt go in, one that shouldnt have counted, and all in all this game in January means nothing. It seems to me that the last 2 yrs they've split in the regular season and Hibbing has no answer when it matters most. Enjoy your win, but at the end of the year when your gathering your 2nd place medals your only chirp will be "well we beat you in january"

hibbing played a bad second period and thats where virginia racked up there shots, then hibbing took over starting the third. i guess you all are forgetting decenzo goal that got disallowed and being tripped on a delayed call?

That's laughable that you say you didn't see anything out of him....he had a goal and 2 assists meaning he was a factor on every one of Virginia's goals.

you may want to go back and watch the game, your 5 on 5 statement is quite misleading

I don't think so.....not to mention half the time they were out there they matched up with Virginia's third line and still didn't produce unless they were on a PP

Speaking of matching up lines. I had noticed that Virginia's top line was out there for a couple of shifts each period with Hibbing's 3rd line and didn't produce either.

Goal or no goal the game is over and you can't change the outcome. Thats how the game of hockey goes, get over it. If Virginia thinks that they're good they can prove it in a month. Penalties did hurt Virginia, the check from behind and the hack job from Judnick really killed Virginia. It's never a good thing to take penalties when these teams play each other both PPs are good.

Other than Hendricksons 3pts I think Hibbing did a good job of containing him and didnt impress me much for being a D1 recruit. Anderson put him on his ass a couple of times and Anderson is much smaller than him. Hendrickson needs to grow up a bit yet before he plays D1, can't handle a lil trash talk after the game so he has to throw a punch, that's real mature. Wait til he plays at the next level, lots of trash talking going on.

Overall it was the best game I have seen all year so far and can't wait til they play again. Both teams need to hold their composure if they wanna succeed.

You must be the intelligent individual sitting behind me, whinning the entire game. If you are, does this ring a bell? "You can't fix stupid."

But they did produce 5 on 5, which is what the point was, Hibbing did not.

Virginia scored twice on 5x5, Hibbing scored once an he was a third liner.
Virginia 1-5 on the PP and Hibbing went 3-5 on the PP. Hibbing got it done on the PP, Virginia did not. It's hockey that's how it goes, yea a team gets outplayed but the goalie needs to play well too and that's what Tromp did. Virginia had the same number of PPs as Hibbing but they couldn't produce because Tromp played well. If Virginia dominated so much on 5x5 then stay the hell out of the box.

I agree with most of that, I already said that Virginia took too many penalties and that Hibbing power play was very good. But I will take a little issue with the fact that no, they didn't really score 5 on 5. Did they get the point yes and that's the way the game goes and its not going to change but at least admit that it never went in the net lol

From where I was sitting which was in the southeast corner it looked like it hit the inside of the pipe and came back out. The ref was right behind the net, he had the best view. We may not all agree on it but its over. I will watch a replay when I get home.

Actually when I saw it live I couldn't tell but the way it came out made me question and I watched it again online, it was FOR SURE never in. But like I said, it doesn't matter now. Hopefully this will be my last post on the subject, it was a hard fought game for both teams and I look forward to the game in Feb. :D

the bench minor and slash penalties at the end werent much of a factor with twenty something secs left and being shorthanded already it was pretty much over. Difference in the game was hibbing's special teams were better and their powerplay goals late in the third on stupid penalties by virginia

Virginia's PP really sucked considering Hendrickson was on the ice for over 2 minutes and they didn't even score.

To the guy that said Hibbing turned there backs and to man up, everytime Hendrickson got hit, he would fall flat on his ass, and then after the game he goes after Anderson who is one of the smaller kids on Hibbing. THEN COACH Hendrickson is complaining to the refs. CONGRATS TO HIBBING ON A WELL EARNED WIN!!!
