U8 Programs?

Post by Deep Breath »

Anybody know of prgrams that are offered for U8s during the summer? I have found that the Reebok Nationals have a program, but I cannot find any others and have not heard of any others. Not looking for 120-hr committment like the Machine/Blades, just something that will provide some decent ice time and possibly a tournament. Thanks.

I had just seen an email on Showcase's mite league and they have a U8 division. Looks like it is a mix of cross ice jamboree and full ice. My kids have seen some good and bad parts of showcase mostly was a fair value for what we have gotten but they started skating summers later than mites.

Also know a lot of kids in our association were on Mash teams last year that seems to be more just playing games.

The best I found at that age was "Summer on Ice" offered by Minnesota Made. As opposed to being on the ice for a week, and then done, the players are on the ice for an hour a week. It keeps them on their skates and is a much better approach than a single intense week where the kids are tired and sore for the last 3 days and then all is forgotten.
